A sad day for Yorkshire Cricket
The flag outside my house tonight is flying at half mast due to the sad news below.
How will English cricket cope without this icon and how will Yorkshire fish & chip shops manage with the loss of income?
"The Yorkshire County Cricket Club can confirm that Tim Bresnan has informed the Club of his decision to leave with immediate effect to pursue playing opportunities elsewhere."
It is understood that he has joined Hull under 25's (stone).

Had a good record for both Yorks and England, a considerable improvement on Ian Austin though both could probably shift a pie or two!

Far too good for Lanky, he can bat and bowl.

Bresnan has signed a two year deal for Warwickshire on loan.

A ton on debut for the pie chucker, not a bad start. Clearly he's relishing being away from all that Yorkshire air

Re: A sad day for Yorkshire Cricket
A century and 4 wickets in the match thus far for Bresnan, at county level he's a good player, but he never quite looked the part at test level, despite the occasional good performance.

Re: A sad day for Yorkshire Cricket
Just got his stats up from wiki and thought they’d be better than this
Career statistics
Competition Test ODI FC LA
Matches 23 85 198 279
Runs scored 575 871 6,599 3,221
Batting average 26.13 19.79 28.56 21.61
100s/50s 0/3 0/1 6/34 0/10
Top score 91 80 169* 95*
Balls bowled 4,674 4,221 32,848 12,338
Wickets 72 109 552 315
Bowling average 32.73 34.98 30.96 34.26
5 wickets in innings 1 1 9 1
10 wickets in match 0 n/a 0 n/a
Best bowling 5/48 5/48 5/28 5/48
Catches/stumpings 8/– 20/– 102/– 73/–
100 percenter tho and is probably a better cricketer than those stats would have you believe

Re: A sad day for Yorkshire Cricket
No.... the stats tell the exact tale. A decent county level cricketer, as usual, over hyped by the Yorkshire mafia, getting a career way above his ability. The Pie Chucker, medium paced long hops a speciality...

Re: A sad day for Yorkshire Cricket
It’s an interesting one. He’s played a part in one of the most successful eras for test match cricket in that period. His stats agree with you and I’m a Lanky so heart says that but was he the right fit for what was needed? As in there was enough talent and his ‘bits n pieces’ filled a gap when required to get a 30 or bowl some relief overs while the good uns rested up
Re: A sad day for Yorkshire Cricket
Au contraire, a most amusing day for Yorkshire cricket.
Lanky humbled by the mighty Leicestershire and Yorkies win.
To top it all off the boy with the physique of Oscar and Flat Jack scores a ton on debut, Lanky should have signed him

This is the world renowned Bob Willis Trophy that we are talking about is it?
I thought that these were just warm up games for next season as this one has been written off.

Wow... Yorkshire beat a bankrupt 2nd division side and their top boys are out giving it the big un..... a new low. Mind you, looks like they might play a bit better without their whinging cry arse fans being there.
Meanwhile in the international game, Adildo and Steve Stiffler are the latest products from the Yorkshire hype machine are toiling against.... checks notes...... Ireland.

Re: A sad day for Yorkshire Cricket
Leicestershire though.
They are recognised as one of the world's premier club powerhouses i suppose, so you won't come up against this calibre of opposition too often, shame the rain didn't intervene again, the blight of many a Lanky season....

Wow! that's some collapse by the Bears 55-1 to 62-6 I don't think TPC is getting a victory tonight.
