League Two Play Offs

Post by claretburns » Thu Jun 18, 2020 2:59 pm

As per the title, the League Two Play Offs begin this evening with the semi final first leg games on Sky Sports:

17:15 - Colchester v Exeter
19:45 - Northampton v Cheltenham

Colchester managed by ex-Claret John McGreal, but for me supporting Cheltenham and Michael Duff for the play offs.

Aye, was gonna post something similar.
Hope both Duffer and JM get through to the final, then best team wins.

Both good servants of the Clarets, but MD for me as well.
I'll certainly be watching.

Not sure really how Cheltenham play, so will be interesting to see if Duff has a trademark from a manager he had here, or a mixture but can imagine he would play football very Dyche-like.

Cheltenham
Fleetwood
And then Preson in an ideal world

Fulham or Brentford to pip Leeds to 2nd would be the icing on the cake

Colchester 0-0 Exeter after 20 minutes, nothing of note so far.

I didn’t realise Ronnie Jepson had joined Northampton’s coaching staff.

Sky didn't appear to add the crowd noise. It worked last night, so thought they'd have had it today too.

Very good game, this.

Duff has turned Cheltenham into a very decent side for L2.

You should have saved your pennies DA :) doesn't help your cause when you miss penalties, makes you wonder if it's destined for a McGreal-Duff showdown, plenty of time left in both ties yet though, could even turn round tonight yet.

Next Burnley Manager (duffo)...who knows...Dyche reckons we like things on the cheap. Could do a lot worse than give someone well known to the club and Dyche’s methods a chance...would have him over the likes of Allardyce or Colin for a start...

Hopefully not for another couple of years.....

If we’re in a position (on the field) similar to when Howe/Dyche took over Duff will be a good shout. But if we’re still in our current position, it’d be absolute madness.

The fans might not be there in person, but they're there in spirit. just seen this featurehttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-n ... -53079169

Noticed this as well https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52742981 great gesture by all concerned, given that they don't earn millions that the PL stars do.

Very good chance of a Colchester- Cheltenham final, both McGreal & Duffer are doing excellent jobs, and i can see them both being headhunted in the summer by Championship clubs certainly.

2nd legs take place this evening.

Exeter v Colchester (0-1) in 5 minutes.
Cheltenham v Northampton (2-0) at 8pm, though suppose we'll all be watching the Clarets then.

Gerkin did awful for the second goal of Exeter and Maxted was rightly punished for his poor hand flapping clearance. He nearly got punished again for doing the same thing minutes later.

30 more minutes of football and penalties should take us up to 8:00 nicely. Hopefully, it won't go to penalties so I can brew up in the short gap.
