Happy birthday Dad

Following my dad's fall over 12 months we were overwhelmed by the support from many on here and indeed from Burnley football club. Well today has been another milestone as he reached 77 years of age which in the dark days immediately after his fall seemed like it would never happen. As many are aware we managed to get him to most home games this season and even Villa away which was amazing to see his face when we pointed out the end where he broke the post war goalscoring record for the club he still loves. He's had a socially distanced birthday today with all his 3 sons taking it in turns to visit whilst sat outside the house under an umbrella due to the classic Burnley summer weather...

Fingers crossed this pandemic slows down and ends so we can spend some precious time with both him and our mum who has remained strong through it all and held the family together as she always has.

I'll end by saying thank you for all the well wishes on various forms of social media...

Happy Birthday Willie and please pass on best wishes from Rosemary, who was his neighbour in Carrickfergus a lifetime ago and is a very good friend of mine. Your dad and me have had a few laughs about his younger days in the past!

Sorry I missed this thread yesterday - so a belated happy birthday to Willie (and it is always Willie, not Bill, for me when posting on the board and referring to his football).

Brilliant centre forward for us, devious b@st@rd when fielding in the slips against me at cricket, but a smashing bloke.
