It was a tough on to know who I wanted to win this but the reaction the Arsenal players had towards Maupay after the Leno incident, I’m kinda glad that he got the winner

Had every right to go for that ball imo - Leno could've easily spilt it, potentially resulting in a chance for Brighton

Re: Arsenal..
We're safe despite what some naysayers think on here, and i can't see Brighton catching us, so all the better that Arsenal got beat.
None of the teams in our grouping have put wins on the board, draw for Man Utd, Draw for Sheff Utd, Draw for Tottenham, defeat for Arsenal, so if we could somehow confound the critics and pick up something at the Etihad, it could prove to be a profitable weekend, Palace & Everton will be eyeing up a European slot as well, and even Southampton can't be written off, they looked impressive at Norwich, and in Danny they've got a striker in red hot form.
In spite of all the doom & gloom of the last few days, it could yet be an exciting climax to the season.

They're a shambles.
Not sure Arteta is the man really... It's all well and good trying to play in the style of Pep when you're backed to the high heavens in the transfer market but for me they're way off...
Sticking Auba out on the left is a disgrace.
Why not go two up top - just try it? Auba & Laca through the middle and play a bit more direct - what's there to lose?
Re: Arsenal..
It's a shame we appear to be limping into the finale. If we were full strength I'd say we had a real chance of a strong finish and pushing for Europe, especially as 8th place might be good enough.

Re: Arsenal..
We are safe, but its a shame we’ve not had a few more decent results because that top 6 isn’t great. Maybe the fragmented season might benefit us, but I doubt it.
Re: Arsenal..
If Brighton stopping up helps West Ham and Villa to go down, then I'm willing to put up with it. After all, Norwich aren't likely to avoid relegation so there are only two more places.
Arsenal losing? Can only be a good thing. We aren't ever likely to beat them , so let's hope everyone else does!

Draw puts us level with them, but even a loss is not going to leave us far behind, so I’ll take that.dsr wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 6:09 pmIf Brighton stopping up helps West Ham and Villa to go down, then I'm willing to put up with it. In all the games and bits I’ve watched not one side is putting it in early, from some excellent positions. Thank goodness we have Dwight.

One for the stats collectors-Timed at 94 minutes and 26 seconds, Neal Maupay's winner was the latest goal Brighton have ever scored in a Premier League match.
As for who goes down i'm not fussed really, but from a Claret viewpoint, i'd prefer Brighton to survive, above Villa, and West Ham, as they're not likely to improve much next season, whereas both Villa and West Ham could.

the one where Gendouzi left his arm in his stomach (very soft I agree) or when he grabbed Maupay by the throat after the final whistle which he should pick up a 3 match ban forSalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 5:44 pmThought Maupay was pathetic - should have been sent off for his simulation at the end,

I felt sorry for Wenger when he had a team sold out from under him to build a stadium but that was no excuse for turning them into the horrible club he did. I liked Unai Emery so was glad he got the boot. Now I can go back to despising them.

That side they had... probably my favourite side. 2 of the best players ever in the premier in Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry

Re: Arsenal..
We’re they ever as good as people make out? Going the season unbeaten was superb and also the double year. They only ever won the PL 3 times in seasons when it was really a 2/3 horse race for the league. Played super football and were a joy at times. But they were awful for much longer under Wenger than were great and they’ve carried on being awful.
To think that Chelsea and City have more title too. People may say they bought it etc, but they only invested in squads to compete against the teams that were top. They also in title races with realistically 4/5 teams.

Re: Arsenal..
I'd say they were a very good side between 98-04. Since then they have massively regressed. They probably broke up the invincible team a bit quickly and they haven't really had a good defence ever since.Dyched wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 8:40 pmWe’re they ever as good as people make out? Think moving to the Emirates cost them quite a bit in the transfer market and teams like Chelsea and City overtook them.
Their biggest problem though has been the character overhaul in the last 10/15 years. Gone from a team of leaders (Adams, Keown, Petit, Vieira etc) to a team where there is no obvious captain and a real soft mentality. Always look like they'll crumble the moment things aren't going perfect for them.
I'd say this is their worst ever PL team though.

Re: Arsenal..
What a joke, typical cop,out from the FA.
Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi will not face any action from the Football Association over a clash with Brighton forward Neal Maupay.
The Frenchman had to be pulled away from Maupay during a confrontation between both sets of players after Brighton's 2-1 home win on Saturday.
Guendouzi's conduct, though not seen by officials at the stadium, was reviewed by the video assistant referee.
Both clubs have been warned and reminded of their responsibilities.

I called into 5live 606 a couple of years ago (I was on my way back from a 0-0 at Sunderland) I think it was when they were talking about Arsenal and Stuart Pearce was on the show and said the exact same thing to him it astounded me that nobody mentioned it before. Re: Arsenal..
That's when Wenger seemed to lose his way because he was Dein's man, Dein had led him and the two fit together like hand and glove. I'd suggest the loss of David Gill at Manchester United, coupled with Ferguson's departure, had a similar effect.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2020 4:58 pmI called into 5live 606 a couple of years ago (I was on my way back from a 0-0 at Sunderland) I think it was when they were talking about Arsenal and Stuart Pearce was on the show and said the exact same thing to him it astounded me that nobody mentioned it before. Spent too much on a new ground and never really recruited well once Wenger was leaving
They couldn't compete with Chelsea's financial muscle and coupled with a collapse of their academy players coming through has led to their demise.
A nasty set of fans who expect to win every game
