Suspensions looming...
Hadn’t realised how precarious our suspension situation is.
According to an article I’ve just read, Mee & Westwood one yellow in next three games = two game ban. Jeff and Tarky two yellows away.
Sack the tackling against City!
With injuries, OOC players and possible suspensions, the team against Sheffield United could be very interesting.

Mee has 7 yellows not 9.
When does the 10 card rule end? Is it after game 30,31, or 32?

Re: Suspensions looming...
So Westwood should be back for the Sheffield game having missed Watford and Palace

All the yellow card counts are at:

That thought did cross my mind as well, the problem is if Westwood doesn't figure, who replaces him? it's a big ask expecting Brownhill to make his debut at City, and i doubt Jeff will feature tomorrow, this merely highlights how threadbare we are in cm, and we simply must get another body in over the summer, especially if Jeff goes, as the speculation suggests he will, it's frightening to imagine how we'd be faring if Ash Westwood was missing for any length of time, i doubt we'd be sat comfortably in mid-table that's for sure.

Just posted in another thread saying we potentially need 2 midfielders, especially if Jeff goes.
I’d play Brownhill Westwood and Cork vs City but tell Westwood to stay on his feet & avoid the tackle. Gives Brownhill some game time alongside a more experienced pair and hopefully gives Westwood some protection from the hard tackling.
Would also tell all our players to avoid any challenges that could lead to PK’s/reds. City are so quick it’s easy to let them in and then make a lunge. It’s an impossible task when you’re down to 10. Would rather we concede from open play and keep 11 on the pitch.

10 v 11 would be impossible. It was hard enough when it was 11 v 10 when Fernandinho was sent off.

Re: Suspensions looming...
Ordinarily, I think we should contest every match that we take part in. However, I would view the upcoming City match as a friendly warm up and the Liverpool match as a low intentisty training session.
Getting something out of the next nine matches is going to be difficult. If we lose all five / six of our out of contract players we will have a thread bare squad. Add in the prospect of suspensions and it gets even more grim.
Playing a match every three days is going to be a huge physical drain on our players. More so when you factor in that they will be up against teams who will have a much easier time of it.
With all the changes to substitutes some teams will only need players fit enough to perform for 60 minutes or less. Send the first string out, let them do a bit to tire out the opposition, yank them off and send on the second string of fresh legs. Some of our players will probably have to do the full 90 minutes against much fresher players, repeatedly.
As much as it irks me to say it, we need to pace ourselves in the final run up. We aren't over the line yet and I think that managing our physical resources astutely might be more important than going all out to win every game. Picking our fights might actually work in our favour.

Re: Suspensions looming...
So realistically only Westwood is in real danger of a suspension
