Lenin Statue
Lenin Statue
Erected by the Marxist Lenin Party in Germany in Gelsenkirchen. Courts have decided it should remain.Bearing in mind Germany’s historic division should it be torn down by the people it offends or should everyone be allowed to portray their views ?

They should erect one of Hitler next to it, for political balance.

Re: Lenin Statue
Beneath your middle class sensibilities it it ? Proper order to keep the statue. Home of Schalke 04. Home city of Manny Nauer, Ozil and Olaf Thon all world cup winners. Just like Burnley a former mining town with a large working class population proud of their heritage and their class. Football mad area. What's the Wow about are you easily impressed.?

I personally don't want anything pulled down.
Find it bizzare/hypocritical how communist ideologies & symbols have a free pass in society - lead to some of the most brutal regimes that the world has ever seen!
Anyone that isn't aware have a read of the Holodomor genocide; absolutely frightening

Re: Lenin Statue
History should remain. Good and bad. How can we learn lessons without mistakes and history?
And one mans enemy is another mans hero.
We need to learn to stop being such a nation and generation of mard arses.

You know I don't normally participate on this site but I had to log on to have a go at tribesman as well, because I won't have a single word wrong, said against Gelsenkirchen... Not to someone who swears by Essen Pils.

Re: Lenin Statue
He died before most of that lot happened. You can't blame him for what he might have done. He wasn't Stalin.
There are a fair few despots in English statuary too. Few of them as recent as Lenin, mind, but the pre-Civil War kings were pretty tyrannous at times. If they want to keep Lenin, though Lord knows why, then they should keep him.
