Toon vs Blades
Anyone else watching this, it's been a decent start, the 1st game that's started at a quick tempo.
We'll have to be aware of conceding set-pieces, when the Blades come calling, they're dangerous at dead ball situations, they've got some great deliveries in already and caused problems.
Joelinton fluffing his lines again when through on goal, £40m they paid for him, they've definitely been robbed in that deal.

Magpies putting a bit of pressure on now, and yes, bit of donkey work there by Joelinton. Should have done much better.

Re: Toon vs Blades
Did anyone spot Allan Saint-Maximin just before kick off? Ref & 21 players took a knee but he started to run until he realised what was happening.

Re: Toon vs Blades
Just looking up Joelinton's stats he's never been prolific, even in the European leagues, but if you shell out £40m you expect more than 1 goal in 29 appearances, to put this into perspective Vydra came for a fraction of that, and he's got 3 in 23, and many Burnley fans consider him to be a flop, imagine what this board would make of Joelinton in claret & blue.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2020 2:22 pmMagpies putting a bit of pressure on now, and yes, bit of donkey work there by Joelinton. Huge booing of ref, when yellow ro each side!
For an empty ground, that seems odd disrespect!
Also, why no Ashley Out' chant!

Re: Toon vs Blades
Benitez warned them not to buy Joelinton, said he wasn’t good enough. So they bought him.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2020 2:33 pmJust looking up Joelinton's stats he's never been prolific, even in the European leagues, but if you shell out £40m you expect more than 1 goal in 29 appearances, to put this into perspective Vydra came for a fraction of that, and he's got 3 in 23, and many Burnley fans consider him to be a flop, imagine what this board would make of Joelinton in claret & blue.

That Almiron is a terrific little player though. Chalk and cheese with him and Joelinton.

Re: Toon vs Blades
What does Benitez who's managed over 1,100 games in Spain, England & Italy, and won major European honours know about coaching and managing.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2020 2:35 pmBenitez warned them not to buy Joelinton, said he wasn’t good enough. So they bought him.
It wasn't so much that they bought him, but more the fee they paid for him, given his mediocre record that raised eyebrows, and he's on a 6 year contract. he might yet come good, but he's also in danger of becoming the next Benteke.

Probably sums up the situation up there at the moment.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2020 2:35 pmBenitez warned them not to buy Joelinton, said he wasn’t good enough. So they bought him.
Even if the proposed deal with the Saudi consortium gets
the thumbs down from the PL and collapses, Mike Ashley trousers £17 million, a non refundable deposit.
Feel a wee bit sorry for Steve Bruce, can't be easy.

Re: Toon vs Blades
Almiron looks better in his central attacking role, which was his primary role at Atalanta. Newcastles apparent desire to play him everywhere but that position always puzzled me.
On another note, has anybody found the option to keep the artificial crowd noise on and turn the commentators off ?

Re: Toon vs Blades
There’s talk of an even bigger offer having gone in for the club. I think there will be great relief in many places if the Saudi deal doesn’t go through.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2020 2:51 pmProbably sums up the situation up there at the moment.

Egan off, Blades down to ten men.
Re: Toon vs Blades
Will be interesting to see how Sheff United cope next season without Henderson. I suspect they won't look anywhere near as solid.

Re: Toon vs Blades
Not one Stevens will want to see again, talk about a blooper, good finish though, Geordies on the verge of safety if they see this out.
Re: Toon vs Blades
Billy Sharp should have buried that!
Re: Toon vs Blades
The midfielder that Sheff Utd paid £22m for, Sander Berge, looks bang average.
Sharp with a big chance there.
