He literally didn't have others available.

They were either injured, out of contract or not eligible as they had been out on loan somewhere else.
According to CT's preview, young players that have been on the bench before were available. We have others as well that would have been available. Sorry 2 sub goalies can only be 2 fingers to the Board. Wr also had 3 centre backs on the bench.

Hang on here, I never said anyone was or wasn't available. I was hoping that Hendrick & Bardsley would but they weren't.

I did suggest that the bench could be made up from the following: Joe Hart, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Matt Lowton, Kevin Long, Jimmy Dunne, Bobby Thomas, Erik Pieters, Ali Koiki, Aaron Lennon, Josh Brownhill, Mace Goodridge, Robbie Brady, Lewis Richardson, Joel Mumbongo.

As it turned out, Hart and Lennon weren't available while Lowton and Brownhill started the game. BPF, Long, Dunne, Thomas and Pieters were on the bench but then there is the list of Koiki, Goodridge, Brady, Richardson and Mumbongo. I believe Koiki could be in the same position as the likes of Hendrick while I didn't really expect Richardson or Mumbongo to be back fit, it was just that I couldn't think of anyone else.

Looking at things now, I'm not so sure who else could have gone on the bench tonight.

I don't think Burnley were particularly bad, it was just that City were particularly good. (As usual.)

As Ben Mee said though, seeing that banner as they were kneeling for BLM probably made them feel sick to the stomach. Not the nicest thing to have on your mind as you try to concentrate on keeping City at Bay.

As Vegas Claret said: 10 to Ben for his post match interview. I hope the scumbags who organised the banner were watching and I hope those who are supporting them on here this morning get educated soon.

Why weren't Hart, Hendrick, Bardsley and Lennon "available" or did they just refuse to be considered
They trained for the last time on Saturday and then left. Unless any deals can be done with any of them today then that’s it from them, they are gone.

Pope 5 - couple would have been saved with his feet if he was a bit sharper but that will come.
Lowton 4 - overweight lump
Tarkowski 6 - didn’t do too much wrong
Mee 5 - not himself, which is unsurprising given the circumstances
Taylor 6 - did well enough but not quite fit and you can tell.
Brownhill 6 - looks a neat enough player and an adequate Hendrick replacement but I am sure he is better centrally.
Cork 6 - looked the sharpest player from Burnley
Westwood 4 - really didn’t get into the game
McNeil 7- worked his socks off and showed some quality, even if nothing was really working. He could be lethal supplying Vydra against lesser teams.
Rodriguez 5 - poor didn’t get on the ball but put a shift in. He will have been pleased to go off...
Vydra 6 - kept trying and made good runs all game.

all players 5.

Usual away defensive display.
No tackles. No shots on goal. Where is Joey Barton when you need him.
Only positives were we only lost 5 nil. No bookings, but you would not expect them if you don't tackle.

Lets hope our injury lists goes away and we safely pass the 10 yellow card deadline

Pope 5- felt he could have done better with at least a couple of their goals, unfortunate with the pen, he guessed right, but Mahrez placed it perfectly in the corner.

Lowton 5- struggled throughout, but the opposition has to be catered for, the 90 minutes will hopefully have done him some good, and he'll have shaken the cobwebs off, assuming Bardsley's out the door, he's got a real chance to nail the RB slot again.

Tarks 7- our best player on the park for me, he put a shift in and tried to stem the City tide.

Mee 5- not Ben's best night, and why did he keep backing off their attackers, and allow them to get within shooting distance, that's lethal against a team of City's magnitude.Unlucky with the pen.

Taylor 5 - looked a yard of the pace, and Mahrez made him look a fool for the 2nd, he did try and link up with McNeil at times, but to little avail.

Brownhill 5- criticism of him for the 1st is harsh,he looked tidy enough, and if Jeff's on his way; he'll be given a run till the end of the season to show his worth, can't really form a judgement of him at City away. Booked in the 1st half, but i don't mind that as we need someone that's prepared to put their foot in sometimes, he'll need to learn when to make those challenges though.

Westwood 5-struggled to get a grip in midfield, but again the opposition has to be factored in, the run-out should serve him well for our upcoming games.

Cork 6- battled away, but his lack of class was shown up by City's maestro's, no disgrace in that though.

McNeil 6- when he got a chance to show his crossing ability he delivered a couple of good balls into the box, looked sharp which can only bode well going forwards, when he'll get greater chance to showcase his talents.

Vydra- 6 he kept going for the full 90, and he made show useful runs in behind, he'll be a goal threat against the lesser sides, if we can supply the service.

Jay Rod 5- like most of the team looked half a yard off the pace, hopefully the run-out has served him well, and he'll be more like himself on Thursday.

Pieters 6- steady enough when he came on, luckily for him City took their foot off the gas in the last half-hour.

All in all not a great night on or off the pitch, but we get to make amends in a few days, when Watford come calling.

The highlight of the night aside from Ben's interview, was seeing Foden perform a masterclass, great news for City, but also England he must be a leading contender for next summer's Euro's on that display.

I could only stomach 70 minutes. I can take getting beaten but the manner is important. We just did not compete on any level. In fact it had 5-0 written all over it before we took to the field. Why we played 4-4-2 at the Etihad I'll never know. Surely should have been 4-5-1. I feel there's a general malaise hanging over proceedings at present and it needs eradicating quickly.

5 for the whole team. They get a pass due to the whole situation, but I'm really puzzled at our tactics last night. I guess there were no other options, but playing long ball 4-4-2 was always going to end in a hammering.

Worrying times, as we are very thin on the ground numbers wise. And getting really frustrated with JBG and Brady being never available. Moving forward, we can't rely on these two as even squad players as they never play, and when they do they are not fit enough.

Few points to note:

Pope looked way off
Lowton seemed to be nowhere near fit, which is a major concern due to us only having one fit right back.

This Covid situation seems to have magnified smaller issues within the club. Now they are magnified, it may work in our benefit, or it might start to unravel quite badly. I'm hoping it's the former.

Get your heads up and smile. if we were to get beaten 5 - 0 by Watford on Thursday then the 'average' and 'below average' points being awarded above would be warranted, but last night we got beaten by a Manchester City team costing several hundred million pounds and one or two of them played as well as I've ever seen them perform, so cut the players some slack.

Pope 6
Lowton 7
Tarks 8
Mee 7
Taylor 6

Cork 8

Roll on Watford and lets show the world the best of Burnley.

You did well. I didn't last ten minutes with occasional glimpses to see the score.

This is not football that I want to see - just so one sided.

Ben Mee 10 for his post-match comments.

The football didn't matter on Monday night. Considering how the team must have been feeling from the start of the game they all played with respect.

PS: Watched on tv. ;)

City was always going to be a tough ask, our best chance was them not being at their sparkling best, and us having the rub of the green and Pope pulling off some top-class saves, none of those occurred, hence the 5-0 result, it won't be the last time City put 5 past a team at the Etihad, so i'm pragmatic about it, the Watford game is more our natural level, and is the type of fixture we usually excel in, our record over the past few seasons backs this up, we pile on the points against bottom half sides, and that's our bread and butter, anything from the top teams is a bonus, particularly City and Liverpool, they're both on a different level to the rest of the league, and have frightening depth in their respective squads.

Sadly the action on the pitch played 2nd fiddle to the moronic elements of the Burnley support, we need to address both on Thursday, and show the best of our club on and off the pitch, in front of a live TV audience.
