Max Thompson congratulations!
On a night that has been completely overshadowed (and rightly so) by an issue more important than football, let us not forget that young Max Thompson made his professional debut for our fantasy football club. I think it goes without saying that we’re all chuffed for him.
Congratulations Max!

Absolutely!
Re: Max Thompson congratulations!
What minute was this? I turned off at 2-0, men vs boys as expected, really hard to watch a predictable 5-0, they’re in the same league as us but they’re a million miles ahead everywhere and it’s a horrible non competitive watch, we are completely hopeless because of factors out of our control, all seems incredibly unfair and lacking competition.

Re: Max Thompson congratulations!
what are you on about ? Including injury time there were 7 minutes left, plenty of time for him to score the 6 goals we needed

Personally thought he should have come on at 70 minutes to give Vydra a rest for Watford. Nice he made an appearance though!

Pleased for the lad. There’s a good chance he will forever regret not keeping the ball in play when he had the chance of his only touch. That said maybe he will get more opportunities over the next few weeks.

Re: Max Thompson congratulations!
Lets hope he gets another sub appearance against Watford (please don't make it political) as he didn't have his name on the back of his debut shirt.
Hopefully he gets the claret home shirt with his name on the back for his wall.

Footballing greats indeed. I posted this pic on another thread but I think it is only right that it goes on here too showing Thompson with one of those footballing greats.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 11:10 amGreat place to make your debut in the presence of footballing greats. Re: Max Thompson congratulations!
I'm sure he'll get other cameos before the season's out, i must confess i know nothing about him, but I've no doubt those that watch the youth team games will be aware of him, it's always exciting watching somebody come through the ranks, and make the 1st team, whether he'll remain a regular member of the squad remains to be seen, but last night can't have done his confidence any harm, just being on the same pitch as David Silva & De Bruyne will be an experience to remember for him, even if it was only for a few minutes.

Aware of him yes, but don't know too much about him. He signed for us in December, officially, but made his debut for the U18s at Forest in November

Thanks CT, if there's talk of him moving up to the under-23 squad, he must be showing something in training that's impressing the coaches, and that can only bear well for his future progression, i note he was released by Man Utd prior to joining Everton, this suggests he''s got ability Utd don't tend to just sign anybody.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 2:49 pmAware of him yes, but don't know too much about him. In fairness I've only seen the lad a couple of times - I've usually seen young players a lot more than that before they get anywhere near the first team.tiger76 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 3:02 pmThanks CT, if there's talk of him moving up to the under-23 squad, he must be showing something in training that's impressing the coaches, and that can only bear well for his future progression, i note he was released by Man Utd prior to joining Everton, this suggests he''s got ability Utd don't tend to just sign anybody.

Re: Max Thompson congratulations!
What was the case with McNeil - is he someone who wasn't on many people's minds before he was catapulted into the first team? I just wonder whether it might be a case of him making the bench more often than any of us imagined.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 3:19 pmIn fairness I've only seen the lad a couple of times - I've usually seen young players a lot more than that before they get anywhere near the first team.

Re: Max Thompson congratulations!
It was McNeil's second year as a scholar when Duff moved him up into the under-23s. You could see the constant improvement then in him and before the end of that season you felt there was a real first team player in the making as it has proved.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 3:38 pmWhat was the case with McNeil - is he someone who wasn't on many people's minds before he was catapulted into the first team? He was ready to come on in the 83rd minute, however, City just kept the ball until Jesus had a wild shot go over the bar in the 87th minute.
