Neil Warnock is back
New manager of Middlesbrough after they sacked Jonathan Woodgate
Re: Neil Warnock is back
Panic button firmly pressed. I guess they just can’t afford a relegation to League 1.

Disappointing. I’ve got them to go down.
Re: Neil Warnock is back
Wow, theyll certainly stay up now.
Panic button firmly pressed there.
Good appointment though, if they're wanting to clear out any dead wood and genuinely build a promotion push he's the man.

The Woodgate appointment was always an emotional, old-boy decision.
Colin's a firefighter, he'll keep em up.

Perhaps we can sign their centre back now!

Just the 13th league club he’s managed.

Re: Neil Warnock is back
Good manager at that level, and he gives them a better chance of survival, but he won't have much time to work with the players, as the games are coming thick and fast, it seems bizarre they didn't make this choice a month ago, and give him a chance to get his feet under the table, before the hectic schedule of fixtures.
Some game 1st up for Colin, they visit Stoke talk about a 6 pointer. I also notice their penultimate fixture is against Cardiff, be ironic if the Bluebirds sent their former manager down, and qualified for the play-off's in the process.
I wouldn't put your mortgage on Boro staying up, they've got a tough run-in, and face several play-off contenders, so it might prove to be unlucky 13 for him.

An excellent manager who perhaps we should have turned to post Coyle. Although after Stangate perhaps he'd not have got the offer
Re: Neil Warnock is back
Find it funny that Boro fans used to lord it over us by saying we played hoofball compared to their lovely flowing style. Since then they have had Pulis, now Warnock

Re: Neil Warnock is back
You have to feel sorry for the Steve Gibson in some ways - for the last 10 years or more he has effectively written a cheque of £400k a week to waste at the club and has been owner for much much longer and has probably lost well over £400m in the club in that time if you include the new ground and training ground too. I suspect he would love to walk away but cannot find anyone willing to take over (even if he left them debt free).

I don’t particularly feel sorry for anyone in the top 500 of the Sunday Times rich list tbh. People like that often spend too much money on things normal people can ill afford.

Re: Neil Warnock is back
The one thing at Boro is Steve Gibson ensuring they stick within the financial fair play rules in the Championship. He's condemned such as Sheff Wed, Aston Villa and Derby for alleged breaking of the rules so having to be whiter than white at Middlesbrough. He confirmed in 2018 that he had to sell Ben Gibson, Bamford and Traore just to keep within the rules.

Re: Neil Warnock is back
He's younger than Hodgson, and Roy's not doing a bad job at Palace, i didn't realise Warnock needed another 12 games in management to hit the 1,500 game mark, that's a heck of an achievement if he reaches it.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 2:32 pmHe’s too old for all that stress now, good manager though

Well, that should mark the end of Middlesboroughs disasterous flirtation with sexy attacking football.
I had them down for relegation, but Warnock is a good manager for what they need to do. The chances of them staying up have just increased.

It probably won't go down to well - but I wouldn't mind him taking over from Dyche for next season to steady the ship.

If Dyche moves on I think we are more likely to get a Head Coach who will do as he is told and be happy to play with the team that is picked for him. Somebody like Stuart Gray.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 8:17 pmIt probably won't go down to well - but I wouldn't mind him taking over from Dyche for next season to steady the ship.

What a strange thing to say. What, based on what’s happening at our club, makes you think that?Long Time Lurker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 10:46 pmIf Dyche moves on I think we are more likely to get a Head Coach who will do as he is told and be happy to play with the team that is picked for him. Decent manager is Warnock. Phenomenal record of getting clubs promoted.
Re: Neil Warnock is back
Another club in "God's Own Country" so it's a new box ticked. Wednesday he couldn't do but he might still get a full house.

Here he is clearing Gestede off when he didn't want to sign a new contract.
Love it.

Re: Neil Warnock is back
we haven't paid for him in full yet, the deal was installaments, maybe we can just give him back if there are no other takers - that would obviously depend on how much we have left to pay though.
