Guess who is available again....cheeky bid
Steven Defour not having his contract renewed at Royal Antwerp.
Played 12 matches. Restricted by injury.
However, what they don't say is that they forced him to play right away, when he was not fully fit. Lasted half a dozen games, before totally crocked, when the injury flared up.
I wonder....

On a much lower wage... hmmmm.
Re: Guess who is available again....cheeky bid
Of course. Might do us all good on a pay for play or reduced overall wage.
It was criminal, after such a big op, that he had to play in Belgium, so early. All undone.

If he could stay injury free, I'd have him back in a heartbeat. But if he was capable of staying injury free for any length of time, he wouldn't have been back in Belgium in the first place.
Massive shame - he's a wonderful player

He'd be at a top 4 club if he wasn't injured.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 10:21 pmIf he could stay injury free, I'd have him back in a heartbeat. But if he was capable of staying injury free for any length of time, he wouldn't have been back in Belgium in the first place.

We’ll always have that five or so months.
What a shame it wasn’t more.

I think it's best Burnley and Steven Defour remain parted, but with some good memories.
Our purple patch in the autumn of 2017 was largely due to his influence on the team. Great times.

One of if not the best player I’ve ever seen play for us. All too briefly.
Reminds me albeit at a different level of when we signed David Johnson. Far better than anything we’d seen. But for too short a time. And injuries playing a big part

The goal against Bristol in the cup, only top players can do that.

No from me, he's to short to be a keeper.

Sign him back just to be a club ambassador. He could sit in the stands on a match day and his influence alone would improve our performances.
There's plenty of staff on the recruitment team we are wasting money on so why not?

I was gutted when we didn’t sign David Johnson. Stan was too.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 11:32 pmOne of if not the best player I’ve ever seen play for us. All too briefly.

He scored in the 2-0 win at home against PNE (I think), and to this day, it is still the loudest I’ve ever heard the Turf celebrate a goal. Unfortunately I wasn’t at the Boro 1-1.
Re: Guess who is available again....cheeky bid
I remember getting Johnson on my shirt and being ripped to shreds about it as everyone was getting Gazza. Johnson was superb in the end and Gazza, well a bit ****cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 11:32 pmOne of if not the best player I’ve ever seen play for us. All too briefly.

No way. Exceptional talent, one of the finest players we've ever had. But he's a crock.
