Fans lining the streets of padiham

Post by MACCA » Wed Jun 24, 2020 11:26 am

Just drove through padiham, and there's more than a hand ful of fans wearing shirts at various points of Burnley road right up to The Spar on padiham road Burnley.

Didn't spot JohnMac, but does anyone any idea what's going on?

Very well known it seems, plenty of people paying their respects, many wearing Burnley shirts or colours.
A lovely send off.

RIP fellow claret.

So sad at the moment that people can't attend funerals other than close family

Top bloke was Ian. I had the pleasure of going with him to our pre season friendly in Ireland a few years ago and never laughed as much as them few days. Always loved talking to him about Burnley and horseracing. He will be missed by plenty. R.I.P.

RIP Ian ...

My Brother and I went to the Shamrock Rovers game with the 'Burnley Supporters Club' staying in Bray.... It was a brilliant trip and as you say a laugh from beginning to end with all who travelled...

It was for the funeral of Ian Mcgeorge, a padiham lad through and through. He was best mates with my father in law and then he became a good friend of mine. He was an absolutely brilliant guy, funny, generous and interesting.
His hearse went through padiham and past turf moor, pausing outside the ground. His coffin was draped in a padiham clarets flag and had a picture of him laughing with a grim reaper. At the end of his funeral service they played ACDC Highway to hell.
It was a privilege to have known him and to have been in his company and I will be having a drink in his memory tonight
