Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
Good news...means we don’t need to worry about signing a new right back in this window and can focus on other areas.
I wonder what Barnsley’s plans are for after retirement? Might he be offered something to do with coaching I wonder?

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
We already have his replacement in Brownlow so can concentrate on the areas we need to strengthen like right wing and an attacking midfielder with a bit of pace and flair.

Brownhill was brought in to replace Drinkwater who was brought in to replace Defour - we don't have a replacement for Hendrick

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
Bardsley's 46 Premier League appearances for us have included 15 against the 'big 7' of which we have won 1 drawn 4 and lost 10, however, in his other 31 appearances against the other clubs we have won 16 drawn 6 and lost 9 for 37 against 22 and won 54 points.
I know that stats are just stats, however, I don't think that he has ever let us down and I reckon that SD was really keen to have him on board for another season. I think that Lennon was the other player that he wanted but what do I know?

Good news. Could do with a young RB to train under him a bit like we did with Ward and Taylor on the other side. Certainly doesn’t look like a 35 year old when he plays.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
He is a character, and a talker. We seemed to lack "voices" against Man City ,and it was noticeable that heads were dropping. Personally I would like to see him go back in the team for the Watford game. In one of his early games for us he played v Watford and got some biting tackles into Richarlison meaning he proved to be a limited threat. I wish we could have got him the moment Tripps left us

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
Positional wise, Brownhill is clearly replacing Hendrick. Brownhill can play central or on the right, and a support man. I think when people say Brownhill replaces Hendrick, they're referring to the positions they both can play.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 1:54 pmBrownhill was brought in to replace Drinkwater who was brought in to replace Defour - we don't have a replacement for Hendrick

Can Brownhill actually play wide or was he shoehorned into that position on Monday.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
I’d like us to upgrade on the right backs we have. If that means trying to move Lowton on or carrying 3, then so be it.
Bardsley has been good, but he’s almost 35. Lowton has also been a good servant, but his performances over the last few seasons have shown he’s in decline and he’s no spring chicken either.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
Spot on. Drinkwater was the playmaker to replace D4. We need to be getting that type of player, but they are probably the most expensive, alongcwith strikers.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 2:18 pmPositional wise, Brownhill is clearly replacing Hendrick. Delighted we have got a 1 year deal for Bards. The young attacking rb will probably have to wait 12 months now, unless a proven vaccine appears soon. The board were spot on not to give any contacts out to all the ooc players until now.

Bardsley should start against Watford giving Lowton more time to lose the excessive weight that he’s put on over the last few months.

Became even more vital after seeing Lowts. Pleased he’s re-signed, true professional. Would’ve liked Hendrick also, but can’t win them all.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
The signing of Bardsley is brilliant news. Bardsley is a top pro, a credit to the game and BFC. He is also our best RFB.
Only down side is Jeff leaving who has served us well. Good luck owd Geoff

If i was someone, lets say ZAHA,for example, and i looked at our lineup,i would much prefer the rb to be Lowton, not Bards.

I'd definitely play Bards against Watford if he's fit and ready, the Watford game will be a scrap i think, and he's the right type for a battle.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
Good news for the short term. I thought we could have used someone like Bardsley as an 'enforcer' at city to put himself about a bit and give them something physical to think about, which we lacked.
Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
Love Bardsley. Great news.
Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
Very good. I like him. Tough professional. Pity about Jeff but I guess he's had a better offer.
Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
Proper footballer.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley extends Turf Moor stay
Really happy to read this. Things still seemed to be a bit up in the air when I looked earlier today.
Welcome back Bardsley, we have missed you ( has it only been three days ? ). Joking aside, quality player, super fit, always in the right place at the right time, vocal, dependable and comfortable with the way we play.
Felipe Anderson of West Ham probably broke down in tears when he read the news. He definitely doesn't like physical confrontation on the pitch and Bardsley has pocketed him every time he has been up against them.
Great news on the club front as well. Good to see the board back Dyche by demonstrating some flexibility instead of dogmatically sticking to a pre-corona plan. The ability to react more quickly and decisively to changing circumstances will benefit every aspect of the club going forward. Our media team and players showed the same pro-activity in relation to the banner business.
Disappointed that we couldn't keep hold of Jeff, but if the reports are true that we put a respectable offer on the table then the board did their best. Maybe he will get a better offer elsewhere or maybe he won't, either way he has been a good player for us and I am sorry to see him go. The same is true for all the players we are losing, they have all made positive contributions in their time with us.
The only outstanding contractual business seems to be Koiki now. Hopefully, this little incident will focus minds on the contracts that are set to run out next year.
