Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
I'm sure I read somewhere that he had a slight muscle tear, it was a quote from Dyche but for the life of me I can't find it now.

If Barnes and Wood aren't even training yet I think that means we can basically forget about them for this season.
Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
Onward and upwards. I thought some of the passing play in our midfield was quite good and easy on the eye in first 20 minutes, especially considering who they were up against. Its not like we make a massive use of the bench usually so COYC

I more win of guaranteed safety IMO, so we can get that.
And as the aim is 17th or higher and frozen season tickets, I'd say once again it's been a great season, even if we have a rotten end to it.
Mission accomplished, roll on the 20/21 season

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
I wouldn't think we would need another point unless quite a few teams down there suddenly hit form they've not looked capable of

Probably not, but 1 more would just end that nagging doubt for me, and I also dont want to end with no win in 9, and it being talked about all summer and into next season.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 2:34 pmI wouldn't think we would need another point unless quite a few teams down there suddenly hit form they've not looked capable of
Think we need a win just to lift the whole club, and ebolish all the current negativity, so we can start talking about Burnley purely as a football club again

For me, our best strike-force is going to be Wood and Vydra. The sooner Wood is back, the better.

Totally agree - we've still picked up 15 points from the 8 games thoughMACCA wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 2:38 pmProbably not, but 1 more would just end that nagging doubt for me, and I also dont want to end with no win in 9, and it being talked about all summer and into next season.

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
You raise an important point MACCA, we finished the 17/18 season poorly, and this lacklustre form continued into the following season, so yes it's important we pick up at least a couple of wins from this final run of games, just to keep the players believing as much as anything, and the higher up the table we can finish, the more attractive a proposition we could be for any prospective signings, and equally it's vital we move on from the nonsense at the Etihad, and people start talking about the football, and not stupid antics off the pitch. Also every place is worth a couple of million, i know we'll no doubt have bonuses to pay out of our prize fund, but every penny counts right now, and a couple of places might make the difference in us stretching to another summer signing ultimately.MACCA wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 2:38 pmProbably not, but 1 more would just end that nagging doubt for me, and I also dont want to end with no win in 9, and it being talked about all summer and into next season.

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
You never really get injury updates to be honest, just the touch & go, back on the grass, working with the physios etc. I'd have expected him to have been fit before the end of the scheduled season so surprised we are now in June and he's still not fit.

He apparently had a recent scan and revealed a small tear not considered to be serious according to SD

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
If Barnes is still out because of his hernia op in January, then something would seem to have gone wrong with the op which is not good news; if that is the reason he has been out 6 months.
Of our players who have has hernia ops, who has been out 6 months?

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
Gibson had to have the Op twice
Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
I think Gibson had two hernias which is not uncommon, but i stand to be corrected on that. If he had to have a redo I trust Barnes had a different surgeon.

Are we the only club to return from lockdown with fewer players than when we entered?

I think tonight shows again why Jay Rod can’t be dropped.

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
I thought I read somewhere that one of the issues with Barnes was that lock down disrupted his rehab - so hopefully the situation is not as bad as it might appear on face value

I think the injuries to Barnes and Wood make him and Vydra undroppable.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 9:14 pmI think tonight shows again why Jay Rod can’t be dropped.

Re: ARTICLE: No immediate return for injured quartet
Now we're guaranteed safety there's no point rushing our injured players back, the last thing we need is for them to return and aggravate any niggles they might have, let them recover and return when they're fully fit, we don't want to have them being out long-term.
