Brownhill can cover right-midfield as well, Tiger.
Not if he's already playing in CMF to cover an injured Cork or Westwood though, Frank. If he can play both positions at once he'll be a helluva player for us :D

We could replace Lennon with one of our U23s or youths, he only plays the odd cameo so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
The young keeper, jensen, steps up in place of Legzdins so we may need to buy a 3rd choice, there will be plenty available free.
One major signing to replace Hendrick.
That lot won't break the bank.

Looking at the squad again, we have only lost some back up players who played very little anyway. Our first team is still surprisingly strong. That said, right wing looks to be the purchase required, as well as potentially a back up centre back and centre midfield. Tarkowski’s fee of £40M + could well easily pay for all of this, and I don’t think tarks is irreplaceable at all. In fact I reckon someone like Fry from Middlesbrough would do a great job in our defensive structure.

What makes you think Vydra will move on? I think that ship may have sailed as he's getting games.

We need to keep him. Get him and Wood upfront when Wood returns.
Slavia Prague just won the league again, and aren't short of a few bob. They could well come in and offer Champions League football.

Sparta Prague, on the other hand are in the midst of a rebuilding job that seems to have been going on since i moved here in 2014  so they wouldnt surprise me if they cam in with a bid of circa 5m

First choice right back and right choice right midfielder are the two priorities for me

Can we afford to have 3 right backs in the squad all on decent money though? That's why for me Bardsley should have been moved on and we sort the position out properly, instead of kicking the can down the road for another 12 months.

A concern for me is the injury prone Gudmundsson and Brady. Two good footballers on their day but unfortunately those 'days' were quite a while ago. I don't want to get into stats surrounding the two of them but they are far too regularly unavailable for first team duties. Gudmundsson, for instance, last appeared in the first team v Peterboro in the FA Cup back in January and that only lasted 45 mins. Both are considered vital to the squad

Two new wingers are a priority to replace the injury prone duo mentioned above. Could also see McNeil playing a more of a free role at times next season behind the striker. Add to that a younger right back like Taylor and perhaps another striker.

I think Kieran Trippier is a possible key to the future.

If we signed him for next season, we have 3 right backs.
However, we know that Kieran's best attribute is planting crosses on our strikers heads. He is also a defender.

What does Mr D like? Crosses into the box and someone who can also defend!

On the left, we still have Eric Pieters. I have to admit that I was impressed by his sub performance, last night. Being Dutch, he is adaptable to playing all over the pitch. Thank goodness for Dutch coaching! He is a very able, albeit ageing footballer.

Wr either have a gem in Jensen, or are a keeper light. Hopefully the former. We are a younger striker short....or not, if Thompson is up to it or even Richardson, if he recovers and develops.

We are short in the middle depending on the fitness of Gudmundsson and Brady. A goalscoring midfielder would be handy or 20 mins of an able Defour, each match! :D

Definitely, need a volunteer classy centreback.

The problem we have is that elsewhere, top players get games. At Nurmkey, an unchanged team is favoured, where possible. Does not make it an attractive proposition.

Not seen this quote attributed to Sean before, but the Burnley Express is quoting him today. “So there are some targets, whether or not they fit into the budgetary situation will be interesting.” Thereby lies the key. If Sean is scaring the board enough at the moment, they might just push the boat out again over the summer.

Don't forget, we did have a window when we spent close to £40 million not so long ago. Maybe it's about to happen again? Mind you, I'm not sure why Bardsley would sign a new deal if he thought Tripps was on the way back.

C'mon you 42 point PL Clarets.

What is the situation regarding Gibson, I really don't understand this issue, will we be selling him or is it going to end up in a mutually agreed parting of the ways before the start of next season, say September for now.

We have freed up some wages so if we got a fee for Gibson you could anticipate some money for transfers, Gibson could be a key as to how much.

Also has anyone seen what they Sky payments are to PL clubs yet for next season, that will also be an issue the board will need to be sure of in terms of known revenue coming in.

Hope we are planning to sell him and hopefully we haven’t being paying him much of a wage over the past few months.

We definitely need a CB replacement for Gibson and a young fit pacey right wing. After that it's an attacking midfielder and possibly a striker depending on Barnes fitness. That's about as much as we can hope for in the current climate.

3.) Wide midfielder. Eliasson from Bristol City is on a free. Adam Lallana a more expensive option wages
Think Eliasson is contracted to 21 but Will certainly be attainable in current market with only a year left.

I'd go for:-

Swop deal and 10mil for Fry (Gibson the other way)

Buendia from Norwich who can play both right and the centre of midfield (likley under 10m)
Not so keen on Fry. Would prefer to sell him to Watford and try to pick up someone in return. Agree Boro might be a more realistic opportunity.

Also do not want to sell Tarks. His challenge last night was world class, possibly won us the game as suspe t we’d have struggled to get back in to it if they’d scored. That’s worth more than £40m. Should bend over backwards to keep him here.

Buendia - would sell a kidney to help fund it    Love to watch him.

Success for me would be keeping our players, adding a few quality free good value free transfers to improve our numbers, and then one or two quality signings like Buendia. Also a fan of Billing if Bournemouth go down.

Think climbing up the league and getting in to Europe would be a massive help, both financially and to attract players.

Wide player, or two, the priority, plus a centre half and a central midfielder (replacements for Gibson and Hendrick respectively), and probably a number 3 keeper.

That's the requirement this summer. Of course, if it turns out that Goodridge or Benson is seen as a viable back-up option in midfield next season, then that position would become less critical.

If we were to move for a Bournemouth midfielder, Lerna strikes me as more likely. There's a player in there.

It made us worse last time and didn't really help attract anyone other than Gibson. With Covid, there is no way we need to be in the EL. We could get in finishing 8th this year. If we are to be in it, we must avoid the playoffs thus time

If Bournemouth go down, which seems likely at the moment, I would love Lerma here. He’s a proper powerful box to box presence.

Buendia also looks interesting, but guessing he may be quite pricey for us and a cheaper option like eliasson may be better for us.

Those 2 + a back up centre back would most likely cost max £30 M this summer and most likely less, meaning that if we can afford it, it may be worth the gamble this summer to spend a bit.

If one of the un-fancied teams win it, such as Sheff United or Norwich then it'll either be 6th or 7th getting the last European place.

A top team is going to win the FA Cup more than likely. Also, as well as finishing in qualifying positions again, Man U or Wolves are capable of winning the EL. That could get one of them in the CL. Also, City or Chelsea could win the CL.

So it may well be that we have 5 in the CL again. Does that mean a max of 2 in the EL and no one in the qualifiers?

Right wing, well preferably two footed so can play left too. I'd like a calming dominant ball carrying midfielder like Kante. A ball winner who can see a pass and read the game. Though, they're hard to come by at prices we can afford. Just think a midfielder of that ilk would allow us to control the tempo better and allow McNeil & other winger, J Rod etc to play to their strengths.

I thought UEFA had made it a maximum of 4 in the CL? Although Man C could be banned anyway.

To be honest, first signing should be extending Sean's contract for another 3 years on top of the 2 he still has remaining. THAT would calm everyone down.

Nixon’s rumour today - Spurs out to exploit Wigan’s financial woe with double raid for Gel hardy and Weir.

The kind of players we should be moving on this summer?
Got to have a clearer path to our first team than Spurs.
And they can stay in the North West. Potential to loan them straight back to get them more game time too?
