After reading that football fans are no longer as important to premier clubs ( well their money) in the modern game i think the soulless games up to now put that one to bed, fans motivate players far more than i realised when the grounds were full.

Re: Fans
Yes I've watched a few of the games, and they've definitely lacked something, the slow play can be partly explained by the warm weather, and the fact that teams aren't in the groove yet, but the lack of fans does show how sterile the game would be without them.
Even the Merseyside derby, was played at a training match pace, and if Goodison had been packed there's no way the home faithful would have tolerated that for long.
It definitely nullifies any perceived home advantage, although hopefully not tonight, sadly it's closed doors games or nothing, so for the sake of the integrity of the game, and to ensure clubs limit the damage of the TV revenue disappearing, this is the best we can hope for.
The worry is this knocks onto next season, and that's when it'll really start impacting on the PL. Both in the stadiums, and with the TV audiences, people except this for now, as they realise the gravity of this CV, but if it continues long-term, then it'll become really problematic.
