Watford in 97 i remember well. Waddles first game. We more or less filled the Rookery end..now the home end. I got back to the coach and i had some ham and cheese butties in a box. They were in a right state due to the heat when i got back. It was unbearable on that coach waiting for the police escort out. Inhumane.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:03 amPalace in 2003. Ridiculously hot that afternoon. Two away games to add to that too, Watford in 1997 and Millwall in 2001.
I remember an early season game away at Stockport too. So hot it wasnt advisable to lean on the crush barriers.

I drove that day to Watford and got back to the car to find a flat tyre. With three kids in the car and a neighbour who had suffered a stroke. So I was left to sort it out myself in that heat.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 11:49 pmWatford in 97 i remember well. Waddles first game. Re: Hottest match at Turf Moor
The opening game in 2003 was the end of a very long hot summer.
It was 33 degrees C when I got back to my car which was parked, thankfully, in the shade.
I think Luke Chadwick made his debut that day, and I was stuck to the plastic seat in the James Hargreaves Upper.
