He had a few wobbles, but he recovered quickly, and yet another shut out, he must be doing something right, he also got his timing perfect when he came off his line, unlike his counterpart in the 1st half. Good to see conceding 5 the other night didn't weigh on his mind, and back to basics for him and the defence tonight will have done them a world of good.

And yet again he managed to collect the ball and then do his now customary fall onto the ball very close to the end. In truth those players in front of him were fantastic and the only save he had to make was a routine one from.a.header near the end. McNeil saved us with his goal line clearance but that is why he's placed there in those situations.

Pope is very good, but without THAT defence in front of him, he wouldn't be anywhere near the Golden Glove. How many blocks and goal line clearances have we seen this season? I'll tell you what, you'll need more than two hand to count them I think.

Liverpool might drop Allison in order to let their number 2 (whoever that is) pick up a winners medal. I think it's 5 games minimum to qualify?

He did make the error, but what was impressive was how quickly he recovered, and made sure he got in the way of the shot, all players will make errors occasionally, Pope made a clanger at Chelsea for the 2nd goal, but what's important is he atoned for that in our next game against Leicester, and that's what top class players do, they don't dwell on their mistakes, they move on and stay in the moment.

His handling's usually exemplary, that's why it was a surprise to see him spill one yesterday, but fortunately it didn't result in us conceding, so it'll soon be forgotten, especially as we claimed a clean sheet and all 3 points.

Outwith the top 3 teams is there any other keeper we'd swap Pope for right now, i doubt it, and he's the number 1 injury permitting for a long time hopefully.

If that's the case, and I'm sure you're right, then twelve clean sheets is even more impressive.

Allison having van Dyke organising things isn't the worst thing in the World plus Liverpool have so much of the ball I think Pope's achievements are far greater in the grand scheme of things.

Allison will probably end up with more clean sheets though if he plays out the season

Nick ends so many attacks by taking high balls better than anyone else I have seen. Ending an opposition attack cannot be under-rated, I just feel that he tries to save some shots with his feet when he could use his hands. If a shot is saved with feet there's no saying where the ball ends up, but there's more chance of putting it to safety even with the slightest of touches.

My post now looks like a big criticism of NIck which it wasn't intended to be! Again, the best ever goalkeeper when taking high balls into the box and that is vitally important to our success.
