Watching Channel 5's "Building Britains Canals" apparently "Spome viewers" might find scenes upsetting......

And why would they find scenes of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal upsetting?

Some pictures of black people being worked hard at Liverpool docks - as every poor person had to do everywhere in those days.

I recommend a look at David Aaronavitch writing in today's Times:

Poor lives matter whatever their colour

White working-class communities are some of the most disadvantaged in Britain and, like others, deserve our help


The Leeds Liverpool canal runs through a lot of these areas.

I suspect the "upsetting themes" are either that some of the navvies died, or that none of the navvies were women.

I'm waiting for the trigger warnings on Andy Pandy. If Andy Pandy (puppet version) hasn't already been banned.
