Congratulations to Liverpool F.C. on finally reaching the heights of B*****d Rovers and Leicester City after spending £1.47 billion to get there.
However, I have already heard and seen enough on Sky Sports and need to switch over to Homes Under the Hammer !!

Re: Liverpool finally champions again
Always enjoyed watching Liverpool in the 70’s, especially Sunday afternoons on Granada.
Of their fans, Have some good friends who are Liverpool fans. But most problems I’ve had at football have been at Anfield or Goodison.
I also think Liverpool have the largest support here in Australia.
But congratulations to them.

Check their net spend over the last few years and you will find them way down the list of actual money going out
Done some very good business in the past by getting rid of players for huge sums of money

You’ve got that wrong with the spending. I think you need to look at the balance with the sales.MT03ALG wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 10:54 amCongratulations to Liverpool F.C. on finally reaching the heights of B*****d Rovers and Leicester City after spending £1.47 billion to get there.

Do you reckon Burnely would look any better this morning had we won the Premier League last night?

No it wouldn’t. And sadly I’ve been forced to remove some posts from this thread this morning that have been totally unacceptable.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 11:41 amDo you reckon Burnely would look any better this morning had we won the Premier League last night?
Re: Liverpool finally champions again
Being a Burnley fan and having the audacity to call out Liverpool fans is a bit rich. Especially after what happened 5 days ago. We really do have a strange bunch of bitter, jealous fans. Idiots.

I don't remember details of individual matches as well as many on here, but I recall thinking, maybe after about a third of the season had passed, that Liverpool had actually played really poorly on a number of occasions but still found a way to win the games!NottsClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:11 amYup, totally deserved it. They seemed able to grind results out a bit more this season, a lot of games where they weren't actually as incredible as last season but when a team starts doing that you know they're on for the title.
As for the fans, they're the same as every other set of fans in the country, no more, no less.
That's the sign of a truly great side, usually, and it was certainly the hallmark of Sir Alex's best teams.

Re: Liverpool finally champions again
Tony, my post stated that they had spent £1.47 billion, it did not refer to any income or balance. As such it was not wrong.
Re: Liverpool finally champions again
You have to take that into account though for a fair comparison. They didn’t just go and spend like City. They had to sell Countinho to afford Allison and VVD. Imagine Man City had to sell David Silva 3 years ago to get Ederson and Laporte. That’s the difference. Not only that, they had to get those signing right. The couldn’t afford to buy a Bravo/Stones/Otamendi. They were no second chances.
Re: Liverpool finally champions again
Well done to Liverpool, very pleased they have broken in to the very small minority of teams winning the PL, the more with a chance the better the PL is for me.
Klopp has done a tremendous job and will be a legend now for them, CL & PL on his CV should ensure a nice bonus and pay increase and well deserved, certainly didn't look like they could do this before his arrival.
I was thinking about all the fans last night and the C-19, do you do the sensible and stay home and then think it might be another 30 years and not in my lifetime I see this again, or I am going to totally regret this for the rest of my life if I don't go and enjoy this special moment.

Can I just point out something.
The Premier league is just a rebrand of the top league.
Something we have won twice, along with Spurs.
And no, Liverpool have not just joined the like of Leicester and Rovers in winning it.

Re: Liverpool finally champions again
No it is a valid point, and the same label was attached to Man Utd, when they went 26 years without a top flight title, they won their 1st and then there was no stopping them under Fergie, there's a good chance this Liverpool side with some strengthening, could go on and achieve similar success, like that Utd side of the 90's they're all young, and can only get better, that's the worrying prospect for any potential rivals, Chelsea and Utd look their most likely challengers in coming years, City will need to spend big, as a lot of their squad is ageing, Kompany's left, David Silva is leaving, even Aguero is getting on these days, you do wonder if their European ban is upheld whether Pep will stick around to rebuild his history suggests not, he spent 4 years at Barca, and 3 years at Bayern, so he may well be getting itchy feet, and if City go on to lift the CL, he might feel his work there is complete.

Very true. But even Liverpool fans themselves will admit that the premier league (be it the new name or otherwise) was a real millstone round the neck for them!

What's the difference between Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard?
Frank Lampard won Liverpool the Premier League.

Red shirts out and about today whilst on my walk.
Most of them as close to Anfield as they've ever been in the flesh, the towpath as far as Hapton
Liverpool have been better than good this season and arguably far more exciting than the dominant teams of the 70's & 80's.
I still can't belive Andy Robertson turned us down for them...

No doubt it will be someone else’s fault if there’s a second peak in Liverpool.
