Liverpool finally champions again
Such a strange end to an incredible season for Liverpool.
Must be surreal to win the title like that and as much as it pains me to say it Liverpool deserve it. By far the best team this season.
To wait thirty years and win it like that must be tough. But I’m sure they’ll take it.
Hopefully not long before fans can come back.
Hats off to Klopp. What a job.

Re: Liverpool finally champions again
And absolutely no one can deny them the title. They have been phenomenal this season. One defeat and two draws and 28 wins is some return.
Re: Liverpool finally champions again
Yes they deserve it but there are now going to be endless interviews with Kenny Dogleash and Jurgen Chopps and that will be too much for me to handle.

You know them do you? The Liverpool and Everton fans have been absolutely brilliant with us this season with the foodbank collections. Absolutely fantastic people.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:47 pmI like the team, I cant stand the the fans though

Brilliant season. That team has it all, skill, toughness and the will to win, love watching them play. Klopp brings so much enthusiasm. And...they have a good number of English players.

But I do feel a bit for them not being able to be there for this. And the players.

Re: Liverpool finally champions again
Richly deserved and they're worthy winners, only the 7th different winners in the PL era, it is staggering for those who remember their dominance in the 1980's, that it's taken them 30 years to claim the title again.

Well deserved.
Quickest ever PL title win (games remaining) and to do it when that City side are around as well is just incredible.
Always liked Liverpool and happy they are finally Champions of England again. If we can't win it then that's a good enough 2nd I suppose.

I judge people on who they are, not where they are from, and we have had so much support from the Scousers this season with Clarets for Foodbanks it has been beyond brilliant. Dave (Everton) and Ian (Liverpool) have been right at the top too, two fantastic people. I know one might be celebrating tonight and the other drowning his sorrows.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 11:00 pmI think Liverpudlians are fantastic. Lost something like 2 games in 2 years ?
Won league with 7 games to go.
Champions league
World club cup.
Score load of goals and exciting to watch.
Not spent (net) anywhere near as much money as City.
Best defender in world by a mile.
Great team and great manager.
Next year could be a bit closer with Chelsea and United on the up and City probably spend another half a billion on a new defence.
(Mendy is utter rubbish btw)

forget the wealth of the club, klopp assembled this squad, and to win this league, and by THAT margin of points is frankly astounding.

Just seen the scenes at anfield. Pretty shocking really in the circumstances. The borders in and out of Liverpool should be completely locked down.

My son in law is from Liverpool and a fan. Pleased for them and pleased that the mega moneyed, Arab financed world player machine has come unstuck.
Re: Liverpool finally champions again
Loved watching the Shankly / Paisley machine back in the 60's / 70's. Second favourite team. Happy for 'em.
Always remember my college coach back in the day being really insistent on turning out properly for the game - look professional - look at Liverpool, be like them he would say, and he was a West Ham fan.

Their transfers have been nothing short of incredible. To lose Suarez, Coutinho and Can would wreck most teams but they bought in players that did the business using those funds.
You can't say the same with the Manchester clubs that must have lost millions through inept signings, and without making profit on sales either. What kind of team signs a player like Sane and doesn't play them?

Who thinks Alexander-Arnold is going to be as good as Bale?
In the same way he’ll maybe end up being more of an attacker than defensive player.

Everyone talks about Van Dijk, the two full backs and those three attacking players Salah, Mane and Firmino but the glue holding it all together on the pitch is there in midfield, captain Jordan Henderson. What a fantastic season he's had.

We will never hear the end of it. Good team, good manager but can’t stand the club and its fans. Whinge, whinge, whinge, thairty years of pain, it’s fantastiggggh blah blah. All that money thrown at it so it was bound to happen in the end.

So are Liverpool a ‘big club’ then?
I only ask because 30 years without winning the domestic league doesn’t seem like what you’d expect from a big club...

Selling Countinho and using that money for Allison and VVD was genius imo. I can think of a single occasion when either of those made a mistake.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 6:59 amEveryone talks about Van Dijk, the two full backs and those three attacking players Salah, Mane and Firmino but the glue holding it all together on the pitch is there in midfield, captain Jordan Henderson. I sometimes get annoyed with all the praise and hype around Allison (and Henderson cos of him being a Unites player) when Nick Pope gets overlooked for what he is achieving with us.
I agree he seems to make very little mistakes and the only one that immediately springs to mind is against Brighton in one of his first games which I think he got away with.

Congratulations to Liverpool because they fully deserve it.
Lots of talented individuals, however, they have been moulded into a team and all work hard for each other to achieve success.
Henderson has had a lot of stick on our boards, however, he has had a tremendous season and he can feel proud that he is captain of the Champions!

A player won’t be praised much playing for a team mid table as opposed to a player at a team that has been incredible for 3 years.Goobs wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 8:51 amI sometimes get annoyed with all the praise and hype around Allison (and Henderson cos of him being a Unites player) when Nick Pope gets overlooked for what he is achieving with us.

Yup, totally deserved it. They seemed able to grind results out a bit more this season, a lot of games where they weren't actually as incredible as last season but when a team starts doing that you know they're on for the title.
As for the fans, they're the same as every other set of fans in the country, no more, no less.

Well they have won the CL twice in that period, and the UEFA Cup, plus 3 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, Oh! and the small matter of the Club World Cup, so they've not exactly been served of success in that 30 years have they.

Re: Liverpool finally champions again
Yes you need the steady eddie's in any team to be successful, Man Utd had someone like Nicky Butt, doing the spade work to allow their creative talents to shine, Leicester had K'ante when they won the league, even City with all their talent need the discipline of Fernandinho holding their midfield together, that's what they've lacked this season, they weren't able to grind out the gritty wins, whereas Liverpool did that on numerous occasions, hence why they're champions.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:28 amHenderson has grown into a real leader. Who would be our Milner then?, i would've said Hendrick, but he's gone now, Bardsley at a guess, experienced pro, knows the game, and is rarely injured.
