Troy Deeney
Troy Deeney
We wouldn't would we? I've been having panic attacks all day after watching him and Dyche walking off the pitch last night having a good old chat. Him signing for us now would be a real step back.

Re: Troy Deeney
I'd be surprised. Our front 4 are sorted, providing they don't keep getting injured.
Re: Troy Deeney
Dyche managed him at Watford, it's not the first time they've chatted away, Deeney has gone on record previously about how difficult it is to play against one of SD's sides.
I'd have taken Deeney a few years ago, a very effective performer.

Re: Troy Deeney
They go back to when he signed from Walsall when SD would have been assistant manager and then Sean managed Troy for the year he was manager so they go back a long way. At 32 he has a contract until 20-21 season so there would be a fee to get him here which Mr Garlick won't countenance I imagine

Re: Troy Deeney
I'd only have him if for some reason Barnes wasn't going to be. He wouldn't be an adequate replacement for any of the other three.
Re: Troy Deeney
But would you want him ? I wouldn't. Watford fans really don't rate him either.mdd2 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 8:38 pmThey go back to when he signed from Walsall when SD would have been assistant manager and then Sean managed Troy for the year he was manager so they go back a long way. He's no better than our current strikers.

prefer a younger player, or a younger version of deeny, but he's a talented and effective footballer with a lot to offer still.
I would be happy to see him here. some great touches last night too.

Been past it for two years now. Definitely not the right fit for Burnley.

SD also had a chat with Andre Gray last night. Its a relatively small family is football, a lot of them know each other for fairly obvious reasons...

Re: Troy Deeney
Troy really has a lot of time for Sean and talks highly about his man management skills
Hes never going to join us, but we do need a fifth striker as Woody is injury prone and Barnes could be injured long term. Look at what happened last night-Jay goit injured. Would go for a young striker on loan from one of the big clubs

Re: Troy Deeney
I wouldn’t mind him coming on for ten minutes at the end of a game unlike that telegraph pole.
Hopefully covid helps to give our youngsters a chance otherwise what’s the point of an academy if their never going to play.

On BBC Sounds app Louis Theroux interviews him. It was a good listen.

If you're making illegal approaches to opposition players, you tend not to do it with the TV cameras on.

I wouldn’t be too sure MattyV will be here next year. He was very unhappy in a mid-season interview, about lack of opportunities. Only playing now because of injuries. If he goes we need a replacement.

No but one of the last times this happened it was Leeds' player Charlie Taylor. Sometimes there's something in it.Local cricketer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 11:59 pmFootballer walks off the pitch chatting to his former boss and now we are signing him? Must be a slow day

Re: Troy Deeney
I'll be surprised if we're remotely interested in signing Deeney, he's the wrong side of 30, and on big bucks, as Simon Cowell famously says, it's a no from me. Now 2-3 years ago, i might have thought differently, but time moves on, and we don't want anymore 30 somethings seeing out their career with us.
And he's on a downward spiral, look at his numbers in the past 3 seasons, he's not reached double figures in the PL, compare to Barnes and Wood who you can be confident of hitting 10 a season, and we're better looking at younger striking options, if we even need further reinforcements up front, which i'm not sure we really do right now.

Stranger things have happened. Crouch for instance. I wouldn't want him personally but can see the merits of him in a Dyche team. He ruffles feathers and gets amongst the opposition defence.
Re: Troy Deeney
Exactly the type of Dyche signing that Garlick and Rigg are trying to put a stop to
Past their best with no potential for profit
Signings like Brownhill are the type we should continue with

Deeney is passed it and would be a poor signing, the fella is more interested in media these days
Re: Troy Deeney
I would be gutted if we lost Vydra thought he and Jrod played very well against Watford. Its the one place that we are blessed with up top.But then we only play one game a week in this League it’s keeping them all happy.

The big fat useless lump will be a championship player next season, he certainly isn't Premier league class. He is not fit to lace the boots of any of our strikersTop Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 8:26 amDeeney is passed it and would be a poor signing, the fella is more interested in media these days

Re: Troy Deeney
I agree. All 4 of our forwards have gone through excellent spells. It wasn't long ago that Wood & Barnes were our front 2 and an easy selection. Now it's Vydra and Jay. When Wood and Barnes return, either/both of them could get back into the starting 11. Unless one of them isn't happy, it's a position we don't need to touch.

Troy is tosh

The beauty of Vydra is that he offers something different to our other strikers. If he were to go I'd like to think we'd replace him with someone similar, not another big lump.

Re: Troy Deeney
The Watford fans would love to get Vydra back and get shut of Deeney and Gray. On their forums it sounds like they want to get rid of most of the team
except Sarr.
