Rough and Rowdy Ways

Post by MrTopTier » Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:42 pm

Not a comment on events within society, but in fact Bob Dylan’s 39th album. Currently residing at No 1 in the album charts, number 2 is Neil Young.
Life in the old dogs yet.

I've heard a few bits of a couple of songs, and all of "Murder Most Foul", I've been a big Dylan fan until about 2000 but not sure I'd buy this.
I'm guessing that he has a new following as well as old hippies.

I'm not sure if I'm an "old hippie," I'll let others judge. It's a good album. Bob's voice shows his age, but Bob was never known for his vocal qualities. It's the poetry of his music that makes this good to have in a collection. I was pleased to receive it as a gift from my son on Fathers' Day.

I was at Hyde Park last July, a double bill, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Bob was in one of those moods, the music was good, but the words were "voiced" to tunes we hadn't quite heard before. Neil Young was great, supported by a very lively young band.

Bob Dylan, singing Forever Young, at Blackbushe in summer of 1978 is the best I've experienced. And, then it took 8 hours to get out of the car park...

Listened to it for the first time last night - thought it was really good. A little bit samey, but that's who Dylan is. Doesn't go for short songs, with the times ranging from 4:15 to 16:55 :) Me and Mrs C were both a bit mellow when we played it, and both thoroughly enjoyed chilling out with Bob doing his stuff.
