Still waiting to see who takes control, but will have to be a good offer to watch that shite over the Clarets.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 3:57 pmToo quick for me there Jeff. Can you let us know what Newcastle have offered you?

No but it does make you wonder of the team spirit if any at the moment at Watford.

I just don’t get the stupidity of some people whether it is outdoor crowds or breaking the rules at home like this. It’s selfishness beyond belief.

Re: Weekend's footy
They may not be 1st team picks but both Chalobah and Gray came off the bench at the Turf, so it does limit their options in that regard, Watford should be looking at today, and thinking win this, and we've got a great chance of survival, a 4 point gap at this stage of the season is huge.
From our viewpoint a Watford win or a draw will suffice, the Saints are unlikely to finish above us, but they are capable of going on winning runs, so i'd rather we had a decent cushion to them.
Forest won 3-1, that should pretty much seal their play-off place, Huddersfield are now in the bottom 3 on GD.
Leicester- Chelsea rather uneventful so far, wouldn't surprise me if that went all the way to ET, and maybe even penalties.

I would imagine an over inflated ego and the need to impress his entourage are a contributor to stupidity.

I'm hoping for a Watford win, we've taken 6 points off them this season - would much prefer they stay up and Villa or WHU go down

Ings is the form player in the Prem atm. That's an amazing goal.
Watford cannot get the ball off him.

Re: Weekend's footy
He should definitely be in the England squad if he keeps up this form.
Re: Weekend's footy
Great goal too
Re: Weekend's footy
Oh Danny boy. Big pressure on Watford and Pearson. Huddersfield also in big trouble. Their run in is tough
Re: Weekend's footy
The only thing against him is the possibility of injuries. Shame it never worked out at Liverpool.

He had that amazing goal scoring run between Nov & Jan when he score 10 in 11 games. Not as prolific since but playing well and scoring some good goals, including one against us.

Re: Weekend's footy
Nearly half an hour played, and Watford haven't managed a shot on target yet, the Hornets are severely lacking a sting today.
Saints aren't a side you want to fall behind against their pace is lethal on the break, and that's the main reason they possess one of the best away records in the league.
It's credit to Hasenhuttl and the players that Southampton have bounced back from the 9-0 drubbing at home to Leicester, and they've never really looked back since, strange game football.

I thought Hasenhüttl was at an end after that 9-0 defeat but the club were quick to back him and the response has been excellent.
As said, you don’t want to be falling behind against them.

1-0 Chelsea (Barkley) he enjoys the FA Cup this lad doesn't he.
Could be a tasty last 4, Arsenal, Chelsea? Man City? Man Utd, and they say the big clubs don't treat the cup seriously anymore.

Re: Weekend's footy
Interesting re Andre Gray, only two goals this season, can't get into a poor Watford team, he is in the last year of his contract and is 29 years old.
Looks like he won't play again this season so what next for Andre?

Re: Weekend's footy
No we've been fortunate to nick the 1st goal in both games against them this season, and that's helped a lot in obtaining the 6 points we have from the Saints.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 5:12 pmI thought Hasenhüttl was at an end after that 9-0 defeat but the club were quick to back him and the response has been excellent.

It's bizarre that after their 3-0 mauling at TM on the opening day, they've now got one of the best away records in the division, bettered only by the usual suspects. I doubt many would have predicted that leaving the turf that day, shows you can't always judge teams from the early games.

Andre doesn’t seem too worried about his future if the party story is true. Also been watching Will Hughes. Think he could be a good SD type player if Watford go down

Hughes could be a good signing, still only 25 has been a regular for the last two years, however with two years to go on his contract so Burnley might have to fork out circa £15-20m for such a player.

Re: Weekend's footy
When I watched Watford against Leicester last week I thought they looked like the one team down at the bottom who had a bit of fight him them.
It’s only going to take one of the bottom teams to get a couple of wins and they’ll be clear.

Re: Weekend's footy
I hope SD looks at the direction Nigel Pearson's career has taken. He did really well getting Leicester promoted, then the miracle run to keep them up.
Once he got sacked (a bit unfairly) he's never really recovered. Perhaps SD will take note that some clubs are just a perfect fit.

Re: Weekend's footy
Ings has scored more this season than Mo Salah, Aubamayang and Aguero ! 2nd top scorer in the league behind Vardy (who takes pens). I could see someone like Leicester trying to get him in the summer
Re: Weekend's footy
I remember being shocked at his transfer fee from derby to Watford. Sure it was only 5-8m region.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 5:58 pmHughes could be a good signing, still only 25 has been a regular for the last two years, however with two years to go on his contract so Burnley might have to fork out circa £15-20m for such a player.

Re: Weekend's footy
I think that Watford fans' message-board will be worth reading again after this game. They were more than disenchanted after losing away to us; losing H to Saints should be worth some real gems on there.

Re: Weekend's footy
Could this be the summer we finally sign Craig Dawson? Straight swap for Gibson? As others have said Will Hughes wouldn't be a bad shout either.

Nicely taken freekick. 3-1 Southampton.
Re: Weekend's footy
What an absolutely sublime free kick from Ward-Prowse.
We were close to getting him at one point a couple of years ago? He’s fantastic.

The way they are all performing could 32 pts see you safe this season. Only Brighton showed any bottle at all.
Villa, to be fair, try and play, but without a goal scorer they are doomed. The rest are just dross.

Obnoxious fans or not, it would be much better for Burnley if the heavily backed financially West Ham and/or Villa went down.
