I don’t imagine they’ve gone rusty. But I imagine many of the parts are designed to be operational as much as you say. That may be the problem. I.e. being underused (and with so many staff on furlough, undermaintained).
 Trust me they are, it’s a nightmare for airlines!

Some sat on the cheapest runways they can Afford to leave them, in harsh conditions. All aircraft will need a thorough check that no mice or animals have managed to get in a chew at wires. It’s a huge exercise

I know your only jesting but those engines won’t just start up and set off like our cars do after a holiday

It’s a really expensive exercise
I know but come on. Airlines are desperate to get back into action, they ain’t gonna let the one thing they need to operate just dissolve like a meringue in cream.

I can’t see that tbh. We’re talking about planes that do 50,000,000 miles in their life span. A couple of months won’t impact the safety that.

I hope you’re right.

But even a diesel car has issues if it’s not run enough.

It doesn't seem to make any sense, you can be in a busy shopping centre & go on cramped public transport whilst other safer activities are off limits. The government should have waited until everything was safe instead we are seeing complete madness until hopefully somebody with half a brain decides to restore normality.
Sorry to break this to you, Jakub - it will never be safe. Never. We can stop in the house and never cross the threshhold until we die - but we'll still dead. The fact that it wasn't coronavirus that killed us is scarcely relevant.

I wonder if the airlines have thought of that?

If i lived in England i would wait before booking anything as the EU are going to release what countries will be open and what are not . Now Bojo and say what ever he wants to and sell it as the UK are on top of this but if the EU says that flights from the UK will be grounded then they will as they will not allow them simple as that really . The Irish gov came out and said " we will wait and see what the EU decides to do " .

He will be off up Pendle Ski club 😉😏🤭

Boo hoo, sob, sob, Tony, the naughty boys are trolling me again......DON'T MENTION MY SKIING ON HERE EVER AGAIN !!!!

Seriously though, fwiw, I've not been on an artificial slope since I dislocated my thumb on the one at nearby Swad about ten years ago. The slope had an awful diamond pattern of raised and really hard plastic. Lethal.

I just don't fancy not being on the real stuff although the Tamworth Snowdome's pretty good fun.

Mind you, PSC's slope doesn't seem to have done Dave Ryding much harm...............

Can't do anything until I receive my Virgin Atlantic refund for canceled flights in May, will take 120 days they've said which is breaking the law (7day refund required), government is refusing to enforce or apply any pressure. It's an EU law anyway so kiss goodbye to consumer protections soon.

Same here with Ryanair, I gave up and took the voucher instead. It's valid for a year and, if not used, Ryanair have to give me my dosh back....as if.

Might have considered a voucher but for a while it was looking like VA might have gone under which would have left me with a very expensive piece of paper and unable to claim section 75 on my credit card.
Plenty of places I'd be happy to fly to with Ryanair, not sure I want to visit the states until next year at the earliest now.

Look long story but with our Ryan Air flights we got cash back on our credit cards as soon as they agreed to pay us our cash back we then went to our CC company and got our money back within 9 days .
Again not sure if this works in the UK .
In a total of 17 flights that were cancelled we ended up in vouchers for only 3 flights , all the rest we got our money back BA was the hardest one to crack but we got there .

Billy Balfour - we went to Normandy in the camper last year. Really enjoyed it, Granville, St Pere sur mer with views across to Mont St Michel etc.

Trailfinders (and one or two others I think) travel insurance covers for Covid both pre trip cancellation and while abroad.
I think you need to look at the T&Cs on that, as it appears you have to show that you’ve been contacted via the app.

Going Greece in mid August for a week with the Mrs and 5 kids. Beaches and ancient Greece should be eye opener for them, and more cultural than Spain in 2018. Hoping for good news next week or so or will cancel and get the money back.

Holiday to Burnley in a few weeks to see the folks, again if everything allowed.

Need a holiday even if spent three months not working!

I had a flight booked with American Airlines and got the cash back within a fortnight with no hassle at all.

Hubby just told me he has booked a long weekend 23rd July at a beach house on stilts at Surfside beach, TX, only around an hour drive. I'm not sure about this, not only are we having cut backs to the opening but it is Hurricane season also! Hopefully things will have calmed down a little in 3 weeks and the weather is nice in terms of normal hot humid weather, short drive home or stay at home if necessarily but looking forward to relaxation on the beach, which is traditionally quiet.

Thanks for that, LS7. So looking forward to exploring Neolithic and Roman sites, Medieval towns and abbeys etc and the D-Day beaches and fortifications.
