Post by huw.Y.WattfromWare » Sat Jun 27, 2020 9:48 pm

Just seen him on EFL walking out behind Colin W. at Stoke.
Passed up on a play off final with Northampton.

Ronnie is Warnocks shadow, whatever the weather.

Left Northampton on the day Warnock took over.

Jepson must have a tale to tell. Warnock signed him more than once as a player and has had him on his coaching staff at five or six clubs. Stam signed him more than once as a player and had him on his coaching staff at three clubs.

Colin also has his other sidekick, Blackwell with him. Another one with little man syndrome. Tosser.

It always amuses me that not a single player has one positive word for Kevin Blackwell when they've been interviewed on that YouTube podcast by Jon Parkin and Chris Brown. I wonder what Warnock sees in him.

Speaking of that podcast; Ronnie Jepson would be a good one to interview.

I’ve met jepson when he was at palace with warnock. Bumped into him at the barrow boy and banker London Bridge. He had called in for a pint on his way home.

Proper sound bloke. He even insisted on him buying me a pint for me recognising him!

He says yes a lot, and keeps his mouth shut regardless of the amout of abuse he probably gets.

Ah yes, Kevin Blackwell.

I’ll never forget his look of embarrassment when 3,000 Burnley fans spotted him in the Sky studio at Reading in the Play Offs, and sang ‘YOU’RE JUST A SH*T NEIL WARNOCK’

Seems very down to earth. He’s always playing dominoes in the back of the Swan with Two Necks in Pendleton. I think he must live in Clitheroe somewhere.

You're correct, lives in Clitheroe. Often see him, always got time for a smile and a chat.

Would love for him to open up for an hour or so in front of a camera.

Pretty sure Ronnie lives in Pendleton. I cycled past him during lockdown the other week. Bizarrely, he was having a socially distanced chat in the centre of the village with Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans. A bit of a sight for sore eyes !

Got to say Warnock, whether you like him or not is a motivator and has achieved several miracles with different clubs

However I would have thought Blackwell and Jepson are a tad out of touch with the modern game.Interestingly Curle & Warnock have worked together and Curle had Jepson with him at Northampton until this week(Northampton are in the play-off final). Shows you the loyalty of these guys

Stan got nasty with Curle at Mansfield when we played them in the FA Cup in 2004. Curle was manager there at the time. Probably down to his association with Warnock.

I doubt Warnock would constantly take Blackwell & Jepson with him if he thought they were out of touch with the modern game.

Remember a chat with Jeppo at the Swan with two necks in summer 2013. We were talking about Burnley and I suggested the fans had a few doubts about Dyche. He told me he’d been out drinking with Sean and told me to expect great things once he’d had a full pre season with the players. The rest is history. One sad fact about Jeppo is that he gave me the impression he had far warmer feelings towards North End than Burnley. He loved to recall that 6-1 pummelling they gave us in the Leyland Daf back in 1991.

Glad someone has seen Evans, he's gone AWOL since March, some MP eh?

I doubt he ever played up front with him but they were both on the pitch a few times, usually as subs.

I knew we had the final won from the look on his face after that second leg.
It had “we can’t beat these” written all over it.

From what it looks like, Stan are Warnock are so alike. It’s a shame they can’t stick eachother. They’d work well together.

Jepson once came on as a sub at half time and they played a full 45 mins together up front......cant remember the opposition.

Jepson came on at half time in the 3-0 home defeat against Gillingham, Wright came on 8 minutes into the second half.

Just looked at the team which was:

Crichton
West Cox Davis Thomas Smith
Mellon Johnrose Cook Branch
Payton

Jepson came on for Smith at half time then Weller and Wright replaced West & Cook on 53 minutes. That would have left Payton & Wright up front surely.

Jepson made 59 league appearances for Burnley but only four of those were starts.

Which Smith was that? I can only think of Paul but didn't think he played in that season.

Edit: just checked, Paul Smith started 17 games that season. My memory is clearly not what it once was.

Thanks Tony....it felt like a full half and I did think it was Gillingham and that heavy defeat. I drove up from Sussex on a beautiful day with two young kids so it is in the memory bank
