100 away goals tomorrow?

Post by Quickenthetempo » Sun Jun 28, 2020 8:47 pm

No, not all in the one game

We are stuck on 99 away goals in the premier league. We can bring up the century tomorrow if all goes well.

There's a lot of away goals on the injury table.

Hopefully someone steps up

Very impressive from Barnes & Wood. Barnes has scored 19 out of 38 away and Wood 15 out of 31.

It's right up there for me also.
No one saw him doing that or even trying that.
A great goal.

Great to see Wood and Barnes topping both lists.

The present is a great time to be a Claret. Let's hope the good times continue a bit longer.

Will there be an article ready when we reach our century CT?, if anybody had said even in our 1st PL season, we'd be a regular PL team a decade later, and awaiting our 100th away PL goal. i'd have thought they were crackers, but both are true, and this shows the progress we've made in the last 10 years.

While you are right that its good, it is also worrying that if you take them out, we do show a lack of goals from elsewhere within the current squad

It's how we play though - this is the record with Dyche

2013/14 - 72 goals, 44 scored by strikers
2014/15 - 28 goals, 16 scored by strikers
2015/16 - 72 goals, 39 scored by strikers
2016/17 - 39 goals, 25 scored by strikers
2017/18 - 36 goals, 23 scored by strikers
2018/19 - 45 goals, 26 scored by strikers
2019/20 - 35 goals, 25 scored by strikers

The centre backs need to chip in with more from set pieces.

Both Kevin Long and Gibson have a better ratio than the current two.

Some central defenders are really good at getting goals from set pieces, others are anything but. Looking back at Burnley, Colin Waldron I think got a decent number, Steve Davis (Mark 2) definitely did, his goal return is phenomenal. John Pender wasn't bad either.

Since I posted this they have both chipped in.

I must be the first poster to claim two premier league assists without actually playing a game.

Keep going defenders.
