Ideally how many new faces do we need
Ideally how many new faces do we need
With the released players and Hendricks on his way 2 questions :
How many new faces ideally do we need and what positions ?
What percentage chance of starting the 2020 / 2021 season with Popey, Tarks and McNeill still all our players ?

Re: Ideally how many new faces do we need
The only positive in my opinion to Jeff leaving is that people will stop mistaking him for Gin

Re: Ideally how many new faces do we need
Always frustrated me seeing this.
Saw a few posts on social media referring to him as 'Geoff'. Cannot fathom how people manage to get it wrong
Still have Chris Woods at least.

Re: Ideally how many new faces do we need
We certainly need at least one winger due to Lennon and Hendrick going (and Brady/JBG being as injury prone as they have been for the last 12-18 months). I think that is probably going to be highest up the list of recruits.
I would then say we need a versatile midfielder to replace Hendrick. Someone who can slot in the middle or act as a more defensive wide midfielder if required.
Third choice keeper unless Dyche sees Lukas Jensen as capable of doing that job.
Another centre back assuming that we get rid of Gibson successfully.
So, four players assuming the only further departure is Ben Gibson.

Re: Ideally how many new faces do we need
As for the question in the OP.. We need a CB to replace Gibson, and think we need another face in midfield. Brownhill looks better in the middle, and with Lennon and Hendrick leaving, along with JBG injured too much for my liking, we're light at RM. With Brady, light at LM too.
So CB, RM, LM (backup)

Re: Ideally how many new faces do we need
Certainly a couple of more in midfield.
Think that's the most threadbare area.
And a central defender.
Maybe competition for the full backs.
We're OK up front.

Re: Ideally how many new faces do we need
A replacement for Gibson, ideally someone younger who can step up and replace Tarks, probably in a years time. Centre mid and right midfield, so that's an absolute minimum of 3. Getting the wages of Hart, Lennon, Hendrick and hopefully Gibson off the books will be a help.
Re: Ideally how many new faces do we need
Minimum 3. CH, RW and a CM, preferably one who can add some grit in midfield and pick a pass. Ideally a young promising RB and creative younger midfielder too.
Re: Ideally how many new faces do we need
Minimum two for each position, so CB, CM, and RW.
Then look to fill the remaining 2 / 3 in the squad either with youth players that look promising, decent fee'd youngsters from elsewhere or cheap experienced pros.

Re: Ideally how many new faces do we need
Thus is what I don't understand, Jimmy Dunne who is now 22 so not a kid, has been offered a new contract, why? If we still need a CB to replace Gibson, either Dunne is not good enough so why the contract offer, or at 22 he is still not ready to step up. At what age will he be ready?
We give him a contract so he can go and play in League One. It's baffling, same with Aiden O'Neil, who 'learns' his trade in New Zealand, he broke into the first team about 3 years ago and has not progressed, so why the contract offer? In answer to the OP question we need RB CM and RM assuming we keep our players, but I do think Garlick has this in mind
