England vs West Indies 1st Test
So thankfully we finally get some cricket action this summer, naturally it'll take place behind closed doors, but any action is better than none.
The big news from the England camp is Ben Stokes will be captain, as Joe Root will be attending the birth of his 2nd child.
Equally the West Indies might be without their regular skipper Jason Holder, who's carrying a niggling injury, they're adamant he'll be fit to play at Southampton though, and are downplaying these concerns.
Jimmy will be glad of the chance to near 600 TM wickets, he must have feared a cricket-less summer.
And Jofra will face the WI for the 1st time in a test match.

Look outside the window. You can tell cricket is due to start.

It'll be interesting listening to Bumble commentating without a crowd. He might have to talk about cricket which will totally throw him.

Lloyd doesn't do conversation. It's a monologue, tiresome at times with plenty of repetition in case you didn't hear it the first, second or third time.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 2:49 pmYou won't be able to shut him up if he's been shielding with nobody to talk to.
Hours worth of conversation to catch up on.

Compliments the other more factual based commentaters well at the sky team.
Athers is brilliant as well.

It's tiresome when he's not involved - Bumble is brilliant in the commentary box, knows the game inside out having played, captained, coached, umpired and brings some much needed humour in during the day. Brilliant.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 4:05 pmLloyd doesn't do conversation. I may be biased but also think Athers and Bumble are the two best commentators.
Re: England vs West Indies 1st Test
Nasser's the strait man, (even more than Athers)? Often set up by the others but I find his insights during play more keenly observed.
Gower is a dud, Beefy is starting to turn into Bob Willis, Holding is great.

Gower and Beefy have both retired,so no worries on that score.
I enjoy the commentary from both Athers and Hussain, good insights into the game from them both.

I liked Botham and Gower but sky couldn't control them.
Ian Ward and Nick Knight seem to keep to the script too much for me, even when guests give a different view. They soon get it back.
Rob Key doesn't even seem to like cricket that much.

Don’t think they retired. Certainly Gower has expressed his disappointment at being let go so it does suggest something went on. A shame really because I always liked Botham and Gower.Stevie2112 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 5:40 pmGower and Beefy have both retired,so no worries on that score.

I'm a big Bumble fan.
Keen insight with an laid back way and mischievous humour.
Think someone mentioned to me Gower didn't leave smiling. But never heard anything else about it.

Re: England vs West Indies 1st Test
Gower and Botham were pensioned off by Sky: Botham wasn't bothered but Gower wasn't happy in the way it was done. When being asked what he would do next, Gower replied "you might find me selling Big Issue in the he street".
