Re: Pieters
Prefer him on the left wing to left back! Great performance and definitely provides us a really good option there.

Re: Pieters
Yes good option for us.
Re: Pieters
His lack of pace isn't as much of a problem if he's playing midfield.

Re: Pieters
He looked very calm and comfortable, covered a lot of ground and gave his all - looked shattered in those last few minutes.
Re: Pieters
He’s a good footballer and does not look out of place there at all. Was definitely the right decision to keep Taylor at LB and play Pieters further forward.

Seems a really good pro. Athletic and plays with a good intensity. A valuable member of the squad.

Re: Pieters
I never realised just how good a footballer he is. Although somewhat limited, he can certainly do a job in midfield for us.

Re: Pieters
My MoM.
Close between him & Ben for me.
But from ko until the end, Pieters was everywhere.
In the late 80s mins, he was charging down a clearance on their right corner flag.
Couple of minutes later, breaking up a move just outside our area.
He got through so much work tonight, as did Ben an the rest.

Worries me at LB but very solid in front of Taylor.

Tonight was about all the "unsung heroes" in our squad-Taylor, Mee, Pieters, Brownhill, Long.Bardsley,Vydra. Without exception they gave 100%

Re: Pieters
Gotta give this guy credit. Chipped in everywhere around the pitch. Last ditch tackles, headers. Can play anywhere and digs deep.
Just commented on his latest Instagram post. Lets give him some support, not easy to play out of position like he has done in recent games. At 31 he's one hell of an adaptable force.

Graham Branch MKII.
A great signing in my opinion. Great character. Top pro. Great Footballer.

Re: Pieters
He’s been a cracking signing. Never complains. Grafts. Has played in multiple positions. And has set his fair share of goals up. Never understood the stick he got.
Re: Pieters
Class.

He was out on his feet, by the end, tonight.

Re: Pieters
Always a great Dyche signing contrast with another ex Stoke player Walters, who always comes across as anti Burnley and forgets we paid his wages when "injured".

Re: Pieters
let's be honest, I thought he was awful last night, in particular his passing, but as you said he gives 110% every game, struggled through a couple of awkward collisions, played out of position, then on top of that came up against Traore.
Like the rest of the squad he owes us nothing, and we're lucky to have him. How he couldn't get a start for Stoke beggars belief.
Cheers Eric.

Re: Pieters
In fairness he was playing all over the park last night. Not helped by the fact, most of his team mates couldn't pass simple balls to each other. It was a collectively poor effort we somehow got a point from. Bizarrely for as badly as we played. Wolves very rarely threatened Pope.

I think the opposite. Always comes across well.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 5:07 amAlways a great Dyche signing contrast with another ex Stoke player Walters, who always comes across as anti Burnley and forgets we paid his wages when "injured".

Excellent last night. He has proved to be another good Dyche signing, he can play in numerous positions and is very experienced.

Re: Pieters
Pieters made some errors in the final quarter of the game, but in fairness - having been one of our key men recently and given his all - he looked absolutely shattered by then.
I thought he played Traore well, so much so in fact that Wolves brought on Doherty and moved Traore into a more central role (It was ironic that having not got much down the wing Traore set up their goal with a brilliant surge down the middle.)
Given our injury situation he's been one of our most important players since the restart, and it looks like he will have an important role to play in the last two games. He's proved to be a really good signing as a squad player and a very good character.

Re: Pieters
Actually I was surprised Wolves didn't try to make more of Traore versus Pieters.
Just after Pieters replaced Taylor at left back Traore easily got past him and put in a cross. I don't recall it happening again or Wolves even trying.

Re: Pieters
Looked his age in a couple of 1 on 1s and not just against Traore but he’s been a decent addition to the squad. Better in midfield.

Re: Pieters
He has two big assets-a great left foot and he is very savvy and experienced. Some of his covering for his colleagues, when we are in dangerous situations is exceptional. Seen a couple of times when our two central defenders have been ball watching he will pick up the opposition player and get a tackle in. Definitely gives you 100% and as has been said a great option now as wide midfield.Deserves to have kept his place-suspect he will go to left back for the last two games. No bad thing as I think JBG will come into his own in the next two games-I thought his ball to JR yesterday was exceptional against a solid Wolves defense
Re: Pieters
is Pieters our new Hendrick(s)...?

Re: Pieters
He was out of sorts and looked very tired yesterday, misplacing several passes.....but he wasn't on his own. It was quite noticible that Westwood gave the ball away a lot too.
However, given the circumstances, it would be so very wrong to criticise any of our players right now for playing below par. Even if the quality isn't always there, they are giving absolutely everything.

Re: Pieters
Had a tough gig last night did Pieters ,but a left back at right mid.. then back again. His delivery was poor and he got skinned (as Taylor did ) off Traoré but kept at it and a great bargain cover buy imo . Tbh they all looked bloody awful .Never seen anyone slag him off ,though I never saw or heard Hendrick slagged off either yet people seemed to dream up this comedy villain .
