Re: Ayew
Very straightforward decision and Scott got it wrong. A nailed on red card.

Re: Ayew
He looked up to see where Brownhill was and elbowed him with intent. I fear one of our guys would have been sent off for similar. Not even a yellow

Re: Ayew
Its nasty and deliberate. They really should take retrospective action because that VAR ref bottled it.
Maybe Ash will put one on him next season

Re: Ayew
Yep the longer it went on the more i knew he would be sent off , yer right .
Did think he would pop up and score at the death just loved his shot that aimed at the corner flag

Re: Ayew
Looked a straight red in real time. Looked even worse on replays, particularly when you see Ayew eyeing up his shot.
The ref ballsed up by not awarding a FK to Ayew which is I suspect is why he didn’t show him the red.
Pathetic for that to make the review room and not be given. Just glad that the player is total bobbins and didn’t end up costing us.

Re: Ayew
Definitely should have gone. I cannot understand that one at all. The referee looked as if he had already made his mind up before the VAR was implemented.

Re: Ayew
Ref should have sent him straight off. Didn't need referring to VAR and if anybody knows what the VAR ref was watching 20 times when he replayed it please enlighten us.

Re: Ayew
Ref did us a favour keeping him on.
Re: Ayew
He looked at Brownhill and thrust his forearm in the direction of his head with significant force. I’m not sure how much clearer it needs to be! Fortunately it didn’t cost us.

All I can say is I'm with Ally McCoist on this one!Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:19 pmHow much clearer would you prefer it to be? Had that been Barnes it would have been a straight red from the ref and no one would have complained.

Re: Ayew
When are they going to allow the on field ref to go to the screen? Red card all day long. But not if you are Burnley! They bloody hate us!

Re: Ayew
Absolutely no doubt.
Straight red.
Had he hit a player from City/Liverpool/Man UTD et al, he'd have gone.
We got penalty awarded against us v City via VAR that was as big a surprise to City as it was to us.
Yet VAR doesn't give that???
Not that VAR needed to really.
It was right in front of the ref.

Re: Ayew
From a referee perspective my opinion was it should have been Red.
This is how I get to that decision.
Looked at the player to make sure he knew where he was
Swung fore arm with excessive force in to the players face.
The fingers on the hand was clenched indicating intent.
If he had an open hand then I would have accepted a yellow card for reckless play

Re: Ayew
Brownhill should’ve screamed and rolled over 10 times. Imagine if it happened to Zaha
Unbelievable not to give this, not the slightest sliver of doubt

Re: Ayew
I'm just wondering if they looked at it from the point of view that he was trying hold him off in the chest, but caught his mush, therefore an accident.

Re: Ayew
The quick glance at Brownhill and the clenched fist showed me all I needed to see to know it was a red card. You also have to take a look at Ayew's face immediately after - he looks totally worried. He knows it's going to be seen for what it was and he is going to walk.dpinsussex wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:35 pmFrom a referee perspective my opinion was it should have been Red.

Well, until the incompetence of Graham Scott intervenes of course.

Re: Ayew
In light of Mitrovic's punishment he should be looking at a 3 game ban, but idk if they can review it retrospectively, as the ref and VAR have already come to a decision, albeit the incorrect decision.BabylonClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:10 pmIts nasty and deliberate. We had the last laugh anyway by taking the 3 points.

Re: Ayew
Shouldn't the question be "how does this clown earn a PL wage?" Utterly useless...can't even hit Brownhill hard enough to get a red card!

Re: Ayew
He's easily their top scorer that's why he earns a wage, and he's being linked with Chelsea, so Lampard must see something in him.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 11:29 pmShouldn't the question be "how does this clown earn a PL wage?" Re: Ayew
Ayew is linked with Chelsea?
He's not even a 1 in 5 yet he's meant to be a forward, I'm pretty sure Chelsea have someone better in their youth team...
He's perfect for Palace who seem to like low scoring forwards like him and Benteke

Re: Ayew
It raised my eyebrows as well, but the story does appear to have legs, it's to be hoped for Chelsea's sake that they don't decide to waste a good amount on Ayew, given that they've signed Werner from Leipzig it's not an area they need to strengthen.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 7:54 amAyew is linked with Chelsea?

Benteke's a funny one, he had that purple patch at Villa, that earned him the big money move to Liverpool, and ever since then his career has gone backwards.
Ourselves and Palace are often compared, but the major difference is we have forwards that'll contribute goals, Barnes & Wood usually notch around 10 each a season, and Jay's always good for a few, Palace got into plenty of promising areas last night, 2nd half especially, but they never really threatened to score.
It's credit to Roy that they're as high as they are, given they've managed only a meagre 12 home goals in 16 games, and if Zaha does go this summer you do worry about their long term prospects.

Re: Ayew
Kust seen it os Sky highlights. Wasn't an elbow but swung his arm at Brownhill and caught him in his face with his forearm. Definitely a yellow and a deserved red depending on which team you support.
