Wild horses wouldn't drag Mrs Howe back up here.

Mark Hughes already identified should Dyche jump ship and I think he would be about the best we could hope for

Number 2s generally have a close relationship with the manager through past experience. It's not a case of selecting names at random. Even if we went for Howe what makes you think that would drop Tindall in favour of someone he knows much less about? Ridiculous proposition.

Chris Hughton is someone I have always admired, and did well to keep Brighton up. Did a great job promoting Newcastle and had some great seasons with Brighton-lost the play-offs but up the following year. Quietly spoken, knowlegeable on the player scene throughout the leagues and I think would have the respect of the squad

Said in another thread that I’d have Chris Hughton, I thought he was unfairly treated with his departure at Brighton

IF Dyche goes

Barton
Or
Allerdyche with a role for Duff as his understudy.

We’d have to get Duff in as his number 2 though - Duff knows the club and we’d have natural progression when Hughton eventually goes.

No to Howe, he's a busted flush, yes to Hughton, he'd provide some form of continuity if Sean does go.

Managers select their number 2s. Allardyce wouldn't have Duff as his number 2. It's not how it works.

I think Hughton would be a good bet. Plays a similar style to Dyche and has done well wherever he has been.

True enough. But Allerdyche could do far worse. 65 year old out of work. I’m sure if it was part of the package to have a well respected, ex captain and up and coming manager who knows the club inside out it wouldn’t be the worse move for him.

But Dyche isn’t going.

My fear for Dyche is that he’s too unfashionable to go to an established top Premier League club... he could join a club like Newcastle or West Ham, where the fans will just chew him up and spit him out. Leicester would be a good move but they’re in a good place, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth or Watford would just be a change of scenery at best. Wolves might be an option if one of the top 6 take Nuno Espírito Santo. Everton would’ve been ideal - I can’t believe they didn’t go for him before Silva.

He's a clever bloke and I wouldn't put it past him to have started the Coronavirus if you look at how he earned his £100k bonus at that dutch club :D

Howe without Tindle is like bacon without eggs, who’s going to order the moisturiser in while he’s doing the team talk?

Hughton is a good shout; wouldn’t want Hughes anywhere near.

Personally though, I think rumours of Dyche’s departure are greatly exaggerated.

i loved barton as a player, but managing a football club at this level is not something you casually wander into.
He has a deserved rep as a hothead, great if you want to gee up lazy players around you on a pitch, but day to day man management and dealings with the boardroom dont strike me as his strongpoints.
