Re: Leicester
Just read a report that says Leicester v Palace (sat) may either be postponed or moved to neutral venue. I think moving to neutral venue is most likely, because situation could continue to impact some of their other games - and they can't all be postponed.

Re: Leicester
For 1 area, I doubt it would impact the season. As mentioned, they'd get Leicester to play elsewhere.

Re: Leicester
Schools and shops closing and pubs/restaurants not reopening at weekend but nothing on people staying at home as far as I can see. I can’t see how this would necessarily impact Leicester games given they’re in a stadium closed to the public with very strict controls.

I would imagine all the Leicester players have been tested regularly for Covid and continue to be tested.

Re: Leicester
I’ve read that all PL clubs signed up to play at neutral grounds if for any reason their midden was out of bounds.
I would be happier if the leicester players and staff didn’t return to the lockdown area whilst this situation exists.

Re: Leicester
Has anyone suggested why there could be a spike in Leicester ? I have a friend in Rochdale who says it was particularly badly affected there compared to other areas.

Re: Leicester
There is a very large ethnic population in Leicester and the surrounding areas and also a great deal of poverty and deprived housing which seems to have added to a higher rate of Covid cases.
It is very similar to Blackburn but much bigger.

Re: Leicester
Probably an area to tread carefully given BLM and indeed evidence that BAME communities are at higher risk. But Asian families for example typically live together more generations to a house.
So younger members may be going out to work and catching it and bringing it back to the community.
Similar happened in Italy.
In our culture we farm our parents out to care homes.

Some brain dead Leicester fan booked a coach for a day trip to Nottingham pubs on Saturday. Imagine they'd all turn up in their football shirts too. Good luck with that.

Re: Leicester
Younger people have come to the conclusion that this virus mainly kills older people and simply don’t care. They flock down to places like Bournemouth in their droves, where most people have been adhering to the rules, and have no concern over others. This has a knock on affect on the local kids who then have ‘ supervised’ gatherings themselves. My son came round the other day and said that no one bothers about social distancing anymore. I told him to clear off. This virus could have been contained and eliminated a lot earlier with better leadership and without brain dead youth. A little bit of sunshine and they jeopardise everything.

Re: Leicester
one of the local MP's in Leicester has complained that local youths have completely disregarded the restrictions as well as highlighting the multi generation housing issue. He also made reference to numerous "sweat shops" operating in condemned buildings. He has raised the matter with relevant government departments and suggested the local police have failed to act on the problems.

Re: Leicester
Leicester had a big BLM march a couple of weeks ago, this is more than likely the cause of the Spike
Re: Leicester
The other areas I have heard mentioned today in terms of potentially the next local outbreaks are Bradford, Oldham and Kirklees.
The garment factory in Leicester that is being reported as contravening lockdown rules and and not operating appropriate social distancing measures is Boo Hoo. I heard a local Tory MP from an area just outside Leicester on the radio yesterday saying he had reported the factory to both the police and the Home Office during lockdown and nothing was done.
It’s looking ominous for Burnley

More likely the small number of clothing industry sweatshops that have been operating despite the lockdown. The local authorities knew about them but did little to stop them.Top Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:49 pmLeicester had a big BLM march a couple of weeks ago, this is more than likely the cause of the Spike

The local MP, on tv today said they were sweat shops in derelict buildings, that doesn't sound like the company you're slagging off, and trying to instill a sense of fear into the people of burnley.

Re: Leicester
More likely to be multi-generational household and sweatshops. By the way, I'm not excusing the demonstrators, either the BLM or the counter demonstrators, or whoever they are. In the middle of a pandemic? Both can do one as far as I'm concerned. We'd be out of this much quicker if the vast majority stick to the rules and this includes employers. Time to clampdown.Top Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:49 pmLeicester had a big BLM march a couple of weeks ago, this is more than likely the cause of the Spike
Re: Leicester
Seriously stop trolling you sad little man.
I’m not “slagging off” any company - I’m telling you what I heard on the radio YESTERDAY and the reports in the press around Boo Hoo contravening lockdown rules.
If an MP is talking about other sweat shops in Leicester today that’s fine - I am not disputing that.
As for instilling a sense of fear into Burnley don’t be pathetic - I was highlighting that it was looking ominous giving the parallels between Burnley and the other towns I had mentioned.

I used to deliver cotton waste and imported fabrics to factories around the Leicester slum areas - quite a few were the spitting image of photos taken inside the northern industrial belt's spinning, weaving and sewing sheds 150 years ago (within the 6 and 7 year olds crawling under open machinery though).

There has been a big increase in Slough with more cases at the local hospital
Re: Leicester
Multi Generational living has been cited as a main factor. This was one of the problems in Italy too as a poster above mentioned. Agree about a lot of youngsters just ignoring social distancing as they think it doesn’t apply to them. Many are strictly obeying the rules but for many others it’s all been a shambles since the Cummings incident and it’s now difficult to enforce anything.
