Ian Evatt
Leaves promoted Barrow to take charge of Bolton. Same Div 2 for both next year.

Re: Ian Evatt
Makes sense for Bolton to hire someone who knows the lower leagues, and can work on a small budget, and despite Bolton's woes they're a big club, especially at League 2 level. Be curious if he takes any Barrow players with him, generally managers do try and raid their former clubs.

Ah! right didn't know that, that softens the blow for Barrow somewhat then.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 10:46 pmPart of the deal is that he cannot take any Barrow players for the next two years.

Re: Ian Evatt
They could do worse than appoint recently departed Bolton manager Keith Hill who knows lowere league football well, and has a good record in Div 2.

Re: Ian Evatt
Bolton is a car crash club.A lot of decent managers(Coyle excepted)have had to work with nothing to grind out results
Ian Evett would have been better staying at Barrow,at least he would have got paid every month

Actually, when I was a lad, my favourite lower league side was Barrow because my dad's best mate from
the forces lived there. This was in the early to mid 60's - I think that they got promoted from the 4th to the 3rd
division in the 60's.

Always a soft spot for them myself.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 9:09 amActually, when I was a lad, my favourite lower league side was Barrow because my dad's best mate from

One of their famous old players, who was with them in the late 60s was married to a cousin of mine.
Pretty sure he was part of that promotion side.
He even had a short spell as manager.
Good to see them back.

The most incredible thing is, ten years after the ten years ahead comment - Bolton and Barrow will be playing against each other, in the league!
Remarkable.

Back in the dark days, Burnley were often tagged as " The best ground in the 4th Division " ..... I think we know who holds that title now !cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 9:45 amThe most incredible thing is, ten years after the ten years ahead comment - Bolton and Barrow will be playing against each other, in the league!

Re: Ian Evatt
what attracted them to fatty Dunn, his outstanding record at Oldham, where he won 3 games out of 20, be a strange appointment that one.claretfern wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 10:17 amI see David Dunn is one of the favourites for the Barrow job....
Sol Campbell is out of work if they want to go down the BAME route, i see Nigel Clough & Keith Hill are both linked, if Barrow could get either of those on board they'd be great appointments at that level.

Why would Barrow players lower their standards ?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 10:46 pmPart of the deal is that he cannot take any Barrow players for the next two years.
