This Saturday sees the running of the Derby and Oaks from Epsom followed by the Coral Eclipse on a great day's racing from Sandown on Sunday.

So a two day Nap League will be run with the usual rules:

Select one horse per race, seven on Saturday and eight on Sunday marking one as your nap each day.

You start the competition on a virtual +/-£0.00 and each loser giving you -£1. Every winner will give you the SP and if it is your nap the SP will be doubled.

Non runners count as losers.

I will post a league table shortly after the last race on Saturday and the final table after racing on Sunday.

Well done TY, I hadnt realized it was Epsom this weekend; Oaks and Derby on the same day-wow.

A month late, Epsom Friday Oaks Day/Ladies Day is my favourite racing day out of the year. Been going for 10-15 years now with some (now ex) workmates. Still- I'll be able to watch from my living room and have a few bets + enter this competition - so not all lost.

Cheers TY, coming off my worst ever period for selecting horses (ITV 7 so not losing money thankfully) I need a bit more fun.

Not forgetting the Newton Cup at Haydock... a great weekend of horse racing

Good to see both the Derby and Oaks on the same card but unfortunately no Dash. 3 horses pick themselves today for me having previously backed them. Kameko, Safe Voyage and Reputation. The latter got me out of jail at Epsom at 28-1 at the Derby meeting in 2017 when trained by John Quinn. Not an easy ride and changed yards twice but I am hoping for a big run!

You watch the rest of the jockeys in behind, its like Amateur Night At The Big Top. They don't even attempt to close the gap until 3 out by which time the winner is the best part of 15 lengths clear, after a slowly run 1st half of the race.

I've just recovered from my melt down over that race. Can now talk about it without the swear words. But seriously, what the **** ?

If the eventual winner had gone off like a scalded cat in the 1st half of the race fair enough, you would imagine reeling Serpentine in, but the 1st half was run at a very leisurely pace

Serpentine made all of the running over 1 mile 2 furlongs at the Curragh and his winning time stacked up very favourably with other winners over the round course that afternoon. So we know the horse has pace. Aidan O'Brien told the jockey that the horse would stay 1 mile 6 furlongs and if he saw the winning post just to keep going. The other riders obviously thought that the leader wouldn't stay and gave him too much of a lead. The horse was also beautifully bred out of Galileo.

Just trying to make some sense of what we witnessed.

Some of the jockeys do not have the brains that they were born with.

If I owned a horse that was half fancied in the Derby today I would be fuming to let the winner 'get away' as it did.

If punters can see it happening from half a mile out why can't the jockeys?

But you try and criticise one of them and they are so far up themselves you would think that you had just shot them.

Owners should be able to negotiate a riders fee at the end of a race and then they may then earn their corn.

Interesting to read some of the after race comments after what appears a shock result and strange race.

Aidan said they watched the race at home and after 5 furlongs his son Donnacha said "Emmet wins here" knowing that the leader wouldn't be stopping or running out of petrol. The other jockeys didn't know that and thought that the leader would fall in a heap.
