Interesting start and Fleetwood’s goal from a really soft penalty

Re: Fleetwood
Fleetwood now down to 10 men.
Wycombe had a penalty saved - could have been 1-3.
Action packed game!

Re: Fleetwood
Tough for the Cods now, they'll somehow have to try and stay in the tie, but 2 goals and a man down that's asking a lot.
Crazy 1st half 4 goals, a missed pen, and a red card, and they say behind closed doors football is dull.

Need a fresh keeper for next season IMO but just on this game
Better keeper and it would still be 1-1

Our ex-players not very good managing teams in the play offs
Re: Fleetwood
Hard to believe we used to play even worse than these two teams, but we did for quite a few years

Re: Fleetwood
Down to nine - Madden gets yellow for simulation and a second yellow for disputing it with the assistant ref.

Re: Fleetwood
He can feel a bit aggrieved at that.
Re: Fleetwood
Just when it couldn’t get worse it has
Madden goes down in the box judged a dive and I think it was but after the statutory yellow he bad mouths the officials and gets a second yellow
1-4 and now 9 v 11

Re: Fleetwood
It’s not a dive though. There is definite contact. Harrington is the ref, he’s had a bad week.
Re: Fleetwood
Looked like there was a bit of a hold and then a dive.
Re: Fleetwood
I scored Madden a 2 for difficulty of the dive and 0 for artistic interpretation

Re: Fleetwood
So what you are joining the Alan Shearer school of going down
Only area where players are felled by being pulled a bit on the arm get free and fall over
As SD would say how he went down was not possible with the contact he had
Deserved both cards imo

Re: Fleetwood
Yet, Raheem Sterling was awarded a penalty on Thursday for exactly the same thing ---football has lost its way.
Re: Fleetwood
Did it ever have its way? Pilky and Harry Potts come to mind from our past as divers who often got away with it.

Re: Fleetwood
Fleetwood playing excellent football...Dominated possession and stone wall penalty turned down...1 0 up at half time...Odds against them but they’re really giving it a go ...75 per cent possession!

The Cods are making game of it at least, but they still need 2 goals just to force ET.

Re: Fleetwood
Good achievement. Solid start to management.
Re: Fleetwood
Wycombe Wanderers potentially in the Championship. Lovely part of the world and some great pubs around there. Most football fans around there support Reading or the usual Premier League clubs. I'd be delighted for an old work mate and Wanderers fan, Dave; if they got promoted. Don't think they're geared up for the step up in so many aspects. Easy to get to mind, just off the roundabout but parking will be a mare when the big boys roll into town.
Re: Fleetwood
I dont recall there being many pubs around the area where their ground is, seem to remember it being situated on an industrial estate?BenWickes wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 7:27 amWycombe Wanderers potentially in the Championship. Unless my memory is playing tricks on me we always seemed to lose there.
Re: Fleetwood
Sorry, you are correct. Not ideally located for pubs in walking distance per-se. It's up off the roundabout so easy access for travel but at the arse end of the Ind Estate. No pubs in the direct vicinity. A few a bit further afield though. Lane End, by the roundabout, Beaconsfield, some decent ones around Cressex Ind Estate which is relatively close. I was more referring to them being nice pubs.

Re: Fleetwood
I fear for Wycombe if they come up, there'll have little to no chance of surviving in the Championship with arguably the smallest budget, made smaller by no fans allowed, can see successive relegations back to League Two if they're promoted. Regardless of that though, what a job Gareth Ainsworth has done there.
