He seems to have mellowed a bit with his wording, whether that's because of two wins or the UN have been in and brokered a peace deal, only time will. tell.
Still not out of the woods though.

"That's with the chairman at the moment. I've offered what we think is appropriate, and so has Mike Rigg"
That doesn't sound like Dyche and Rigg are pulling in the same direction....or am I reading too much into it
Got to be said, the rest of it sounds like things may have calmed down behind the scenes?

The board aren't stupid, they have to realise that SD is our biggest asset, he must be kept on side.
It's not about personal wealth it's about taking the club in the right direction and his own development going forward.
The risk averse policy is sensible but surely the boat can be pushed out to placate the manager somewhat when the assets are there in the background as a failsafe i.e the players SD has bought or nurtured which will make the club millions in the guise of Pope, Tarkowski and McNeil.
Take heed what Wilder said today, several clubs look on enviously at us and that is predominantly down to a manager we can't afford to lose of our own volition.

That sounds like they are pulling in the same direction, that Mike Rigg has also told Garlick that he needs to up his game.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 11:56 pm"That's with the chairman at the moment. I've offered what we think is appropriate, and so has Mike Rigg"

Re: Sean Dyche : Inside life in the transfer market at Burnley
It does seem like things have softened a bit. Hopefully it means that Sean is back in the loop, front and centre when it comes to the playing requirements we need to satisfy, benefitting the club with his feet on the ground common sense and forward thinking value judgements.
"That's with the chairman at the moment. I've offered what we think is appropriate, and so has Mike Rigg and the powers that be in the club, and eventually it does come down to the chairman at some point, because he has to give it the sign-off for getting it done. There are situations, but we'll wait and see."
Obviously the " we " that is referenced by the Gaffer applies to him and probably the players and the playing staff. Their recommendation may or may not be in line with Mike Rigg and the powers that be in the club. Although it would seem to be a bit puzzling if everyone at the club was pulling in exactly the same direction and the Chairman was advocating something else.
Touch wood, when the final decision comes around Garlick remembers this interview
https://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/new ... -new-deal/
... and the wise words that he spoke during it - " Loyalty is a precious commodity in football "
Strangely enough, the whole club seemed to have a much happier atmosphere and outlook back in 2018.

I’m not convinced he was referring to himself and “the players and the playing staff the playing”. His coaching and support team yes, but far less likely the players.Long Time Lurker wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 1:45 amIt does seem like things have softened a bit. A considered and sound approach in the transfer market that mainly leads to financial disaster
Which is why we have to remain cautious
Early days, but Brownhill at £9m looks like an upgrade on Hendrick for less money - players are still out there
Look at the teams above us in £10m+ signings - only Wolves are currently doing better than us

Re: Sean Dyche : Inside life in the transfer market at Burnley
Who are the six players we have signed for £10 million plus?
Gibson, Hendrick, Brady, Vydra, Cork, Wood.
Wood, Cork and Hendrick have, so far, justified these fees. Brady could have done but for his injuries, Vydra but for opportunities. Gibson of course has been a waste so far.

Re: Sean Dyche : Inside life in the transfer market at Burnley
Andre Gray probably went over 10m.
""If you want to really, really jump, you've got to be looking at the £25m mark,"
We offered 20m for a player last window Sean. We're getting there. We have a wage budget up there with the Newcastle's and Bournemouth's now. We're a mid table team wages wise.
Its also in the middle of a massive global recession, caused by a pandemic no one knows when will end... perhaps not the time to be moaning about this stuff? Its this what worries me SD isn't stupid, he knows money is tighter than ever and the future even more uncertain... I think he's engineering a move / getting his side of the story out to the media.

That averages 12million over last 4 seasons net spend if my maths is correct. Not including moves of Wells and Brownhill

I think you're reading too much into it. I think Sean is saying that Mike is on th same page as him.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 11:56 pm"That's with the chairman at the moment. I've offered what we think is appropriate, and so has Mike Rigg"

I keep saying that it's unfair to lay the blame at the door of Miike Rigg without real evidence. No one knows which players he has found and recommended. He doesn't give the OK or sign the cheques. On top of that, players may have been asked to sign, but refused because they (Or their agents) wanted more money.

Re: Sean Dyche : Inside life in the transfer market at Burnley
The board aren’t stupid they have put him on a reported £3.5m. p.a. but they are not as smart as Sean. So although he gives off this humble vibe, Sean is now a very rich man. He has probably coined circa £9 million since he signed the deal which has another 2 years to run.
Ideally he would like the board to back him in the transfer market so he has gone public on a row that has probably been brewing since the start of last season. His open dissent has put the board in the situation were they either have to cough up or sack him and get someone in who is happy to operate on a restricted budget.
Dyche is being very crafty here methinks as due to the financial crisis he knows the board cannot afford to fire him financially or in terms of the playing side as he has made himself seem virtually irreplaceable at the moment.
For his part if he gets fired Dyche will coin it and get another job easily if he wants one.
So they either limp along together like a divorced couple who cannot afford to separate, the board sack Sean and risk going down the tubes, or they get some new investment in.
Ironically in December quite a few people would have been quite happy to see the back of him.

Didnt the chairman once say that if burnley could no longer compete financially at this level he would step aside ...or words to that effect

This is the big one . Eddie at Bournemouth was touted as the next England manager as he was that good , now where do you see him going at the moment ?ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 9:51 amThe board aren’t stupid they have put him on a reported £3.5m. p.a. but they are not as smart as Sean. Dyche knows he is hot at this time and timing is the key
