Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
Costly misses from those chances for Vydra & McNeil but considering the injuries we had I’d have taken a point prior to kick off
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
We finished with 10 men ,we couldn't even be arsed to put a sub on for Pieter's , amazing

It’s a good point but we missed two sitters that should have been buried. It was a poor game compared to the Palace game and we didn’t look quite at it. Maybe too many games too quickly.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
Result not a great deal of help to either team in their European chase but a fair enough result. Thought the Vydra chance early doors was difficult because Henderson narrowed the angle well but McNeil should have done better after J Rod's strike.
Has to be said, Egan's strike was superb.
Is that now one defeat in 11? Not bad for little old Burnley and it doesn't suggest discontent in the camp.
C'mon you PL Clarets.

So gutted. 10 minutes away. Avoidable corner too.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
So different from the last game. Such a shame we lost Cork so we couldn't play the same way.
Pieters injured, possibly Bardsley too.
We're sitting ducks for West Ham but let's hope we can string something together.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
1-1 about right over the piece, we had some good chances, but so did they, Dwight's miss crucial though, he's got to bury that, oh well it happens.
Tarks immense again, and a goal to boot, he'd be my Burnley MOM.
1 defeat in 11 now, and 6 unbeaten at home, it's not too shabby really is it.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
I thought we played well in first half and dug in 2nd half. We could have won it with Vyrda and McNeil's sitters but overall a fair result. Hard earned point against a well organised team very similar to ourselves. Lot of negative folk on here

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
I wouldn’t have brought Wood on. Vydra was doing quite well and not just playing as a striker. Moving out right. Linking up play. Wood was ineffective and not match fit.

And to get match fit, you need match time.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 2:20 pmI wouldn’t have brought Wood on. Vydra was doing quite well and not just playing as a striker. Moving out right. Linking up play. Wood was ineffective and not match fit.

At least that's put any talk of Europe to bed, we should still aim to finish in the top 10 though.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
Negativity on UTC surely not, disappointing not to see the game out, but on another day we could have win by 2 or 3, draw between Tottenham and Everton would be helpful, bear in mind before today Sheff Utd had only lost 3 away games, Liverpool, City, and Newcastle when they went down to 10 men, they're clearly no mugs, hence why they sit 8th in the league, we still have every chance of breaking the 50 point mark, and not many would have thought that after the Chelsea game,6 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat since then, 22 points out of 33, and 2nd in the form table behind Liverpool, you can't win them all, and it's another point on the board, bearing in mind several of our regulars were missing, that's a decent result, and we showed plenty of desire, we certainly don't look like a team that's ill at ease, as many in the media would have you believe.MyRightFoot wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 2:09 pmI thought we played well in first half and dug in 2nd half. Quite right, but SD could and should have made changes, whilst were under the cosh and more leggytiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 2:27 pmNegativity on UTC surely not, disappointing not to see the game out, but on another day we could have win by 2 or 3, draw between Tottenham and Everton would be helpful, bear in mind before today Sheff Utd had only lost 3 away games, Liverpool, City, and Newcastle when they went down to 10 men, they're clearly no mugs, hence why they sit 8th in the league, we still have every chance of breaking the 50 point mark, and not many would have thought that after the Chelsea game,6 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat since then, 22 points out of 33, and 2nd in the form table behind Liverpool, you can't win them all, and it's another point on the board, bearing in mind several of our regulars were missing, that's a decent result, and we showed plenty of desire, we certainly don't look like a team that's ill at ease, as many in the media would have you believe.

Not really. We’re competing with Sheffield United, and it was a draw.claretandy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 2:25 pmAt least that's put any talk of Europe to bed, we should still aim to finish in the top 10 though.

Probably why he was brought on. He won’t get match fit on the bench.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
We brought Wood on for Vydra, and who else could he have brought on, Brady and JBG aren't up to speed yet, and if he'd introduced one or both, and we'd then conceded the equaliser, people would be moaning we shouldn't have disrupted the team, the reality is if Dwight had buried his chance, we'd have gone on to win comfortably, fine margins as the gaffer would say.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
We are still in the mix and with a generally positive run in.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
Thing is, as much as I’ve complained about our overall performance today, we created the chances to win the game and generally Sheffield United didn’t. The signs are still there and they had everyone available.

But SU might drop points yet, we don't know.claretandy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 2:51 pmWe needed at least 3 wins and 2 draws, with one of those win against Sheff Utd.
And maybe we'll beat Norwich, West Ham and Brighton.
Maybe we won't, but the point is we're still in the hunt.
Never give up, Andy.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
You can only get up to speed ,as you put it,by getting game time, sitting on the bench gets you nowt,we could also have scored, who knows,it is what it is now that's for suretiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 2:38 pmWe brought Wood on for Vydra, and who else could he have brought on, Brady and JBG aren't up to speed yet, and if he'd introduced one or both, and we'd then conceded the equaliser, people would be moaning we shouldn't have disrupted the team, the reality is if Dwight had buried his chance, we'd have gone on to win comfortably, fine margins as the gaffer would say.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus SheffU
Tbf, Pieters should have been off ten minutes before the injury. I’d have left Vydra on, subbed JRod given he was coming back from injury. I’d maybe of popped Thompson on for Dwight too. He looked shot!!boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 7:14 pmThis is the one slight weakness in SD's management. Poor use of subs/squad
