Brownhill...
Chances of him replacing Cork permanently, and having Cork on the bench - and having a Brownhill-Westwood partnership?

Re: Brownhill...
No choice at the moment. This is a PL club with two fit CM's. It gives him a run-I am seeing him growing in confidence. He does all the obvious and simple balls well. Be interesting to see if he can step up with more game time, but a very steady start from the lad

Re: Brownhill...
They might be a bit too similar. No problem with the performance of either.
Jack just sits a bit deeper to take the ball from the back 4.

Re: Brownhill...
I'm on about with all 3 fit. Whether Brownhill could force Cork out of the starting 11. I don't mean now, with the injuries.

looks a bargain so far, if his name was Joshinzo Brownhillio then Newcastle would have paid 40 million for him

I like him but I thought he was very negative today with his passing. Very David batty like.

I’ve been impressed. Good legs and energy. Quick feet. Confident.
Similar to Westwood but bigger.
Wouldn’t be worried given what I’ve seen so far.

High praise indeed. If we have in Brownhill half the player Batty was then you'll continue to be a happy man as will us allpushpinpussy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 6:01 pmI like him but I thought he was very negative today with his passing. Very David batty like.

Tbh he remind me of Defour.
A bit of a metronome in the middle of the park. He just kept the ball moving for us

Re: Brownhill...
As stated above he's been steady enough so far, and with Cork out for the season, if he produces in the last 5 games, then it's his shirt to lose, might seem tough on Jack, but that's football, and if you get the chance you grab it with both hands.
Re: Brownhill...
Good player he will become an integral part of the team.

Re: Brownhill...
I’m a big Cork fan but I thought Brownhill was fantastic today. Always showing, confident on the ball, kept things simple, ticking over, sensible passes back to Pope when we were under pressure. Burnley’s Iniesta!
Will be his to lose if he carries on like that that for 5 games.

Re: Brownhill...
Having read through the thread I’m surprised that Brownhill isn’t being complemented more for his first touch, which I think has been outstanding. If he turns into half the player David Batty was, we’ve got a good one. Batty was a much, much better player than he was often credited for. Brownhill’s basics and want to look after the ball, have impressed me. Looking forward to seeing him in the remaining five games.

Very shrewd signing and will become an integral part of the team. Looking forward to seeing him settle more over these next 5 games.

Re: Brownhill...
He's a very good player.
Real dynamo, puts himself about and gets a leg in.
Cracking addition to the squad.

Re: Brownhill...
Early days but he's tenacious and moves the ball quickly. He's still getting used to his team mates and them him. Has a good engine on him too.
Re: Brownhill...
Can’t see him and Westwood in a two man midfield permanently. We still need that destroyer type who can sit in front of the back 4 and sweep up loose balls.

He can’t possibly an upgrade on Hendrick because we were told on numerous occasions by the know-alls on here that that would cost at least 20 million.

Re: Brownhill...
Cork has had a good season and defensively he is excellent. I wonder if the arrival of Josh will give us the opportunity to set up differently.
Cork would be excellent on the rhs of a back 3. Get a proper right sided wing back and give Dwight a free role behind 2 strikers and we could be a potent attacking side. Something like:-
Pope
Cork Tarks Mee
New Josh Westy Taylor
Dwight
Jay Woody
Edit. I know it won't happen any time soon, but imagine Tripps in that team. Perfect.

He’s decent enough for us yes but his limitations are myriad . He’s got a good attitude and very reliable for sure but if your sights are set no higher than Ashley Westwood, ambition is not something which will likely trouble youVegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 3:48 pmupgrade on Westwood ?
