Who would you replace him with? realistic options only.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 2:57 pmHe’s decent enough for us yes but his limitations are myriad . He’s got a good attitude and very reliable for sure but if your sights are set no higher than Ashley Westwood, ambition is not something which will likely trouble you

what kind of a response is that ? You want a conversation I'm here anytime, you want to spout shite then I'll not bother.
Sure, would I rather have Busquets than Westwood, of course I would - but that's unrealistic - so give me your list of names that are better than Westwood that we can actually sign and show the "ambition" you are seemingly desperate for ?

Brownhill
Looked like little boy lost at Man City, but what an awful game to make your full debut
Gave the ball away a bit too often against Watford
Palace, Sheffield United and West Ham - three excellent performances
Settling in well and so far so good from him and it is not easy stepping up from the Championship, more so given the circumstances of him arriving just over a month before the shutdown.
Really impressive performance tonight from him.

Been fabulous so far. Wonderful first touch and gets it out of his feet quickly. Lockdown has benefited him bedding in and getting game time.

Re: Brownhill...
You decided you didn’t like a difference of opinion re upgrading Westwood /midfield in general ,( no Hendrick an aging Cork and Westwood ) seems to have rattled your cage and your slavish devotion to a good pro while getting your bottom lip quivering. Stick to smilies and video links sweet peaVegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 5:48 pmI was laughing at your smack answer

His ability to play both centre and wide will be a huge asset to us. It gives SD the choice to go 433 too should he wish

Re: Brownhill...
If you're stating we need to strengthen in the middle of the park, then absolutely we're in agreement, but i don't see why we'd replace Westwood, he's been an instrumental cog in our recent impressive run, now if we could find someone in the mould of Westwood, but several years younger, then you may have a case, but with our finances i doubt we'll manage that this summer.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 9:02 pmI wouldn’t directly replace him as he’s a good steady player ,but I’d like to see a quality option challenging the midfield .

Re: Brownhill...
I think he's been excellent apart from the City game. Early days but the Warrington Wolf is looking like an excellent signing. Biggest compliment I can pay him tonight (and last Sunday) being that he stepped in seamlessly into JC's position.

IMO we have absolutely mugged Bristol City for our combined outlay

Re: Brownhill...
Looking the part.
Still very early and in these circumstances that are not are not helpful. He has been great. Yes with errors but he offers loads for the future.
Needs sitting in the Calder for a couple of things tonight - they could have cost us.
On the plus side - he'll learn and he looks so so good at times.

Re: Brownhill...
He's still bedding in but see flashes of excellent play. He moves the ball quickly and can see a simple but effective pass. Better player than I expected for what we paid. Is it correct he rejected a move to West Ham for us or are they just rumours? I can see why they'd have been interested, if they were.

£4M according to SD, bargain of the century.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 9:57 pmIMO we have absolutely mugged Bristol City for our combined outlay
Re: Brownhill...
In terms of upgrades we need to be realistic in our ambitions. As CT has stated above Brownhill has improved immeasurably since the City game. I watched the Norwich v Man Utd. game a week or so ago and that little Jenas chap was raving over Bruno Fernandes, who, in that game I thought was OK but still pretty average. He has admittedly improved and I suspect will be a great addition for Man Utd. But then I saw the price tag from Sporting Lisbon £67m. We can't compete with that. I am really pleased that, thus far, Brownhill is proving to be a great addition.
Re: Brownhill...
Another very good game. I know Sean wanted to keep Jeff but him leaving has allowed Josh to have a run of games to show what he can do. I’d be confident that this will be a very good signing now... whereas before the break I was uncertain.

He’s **** hot, really is. Let him settle and he will spend 8-10 years in premier.
I’ve grown up with top pros through my job and he’s got all the minerals, belief and ability... will go all the way. He will captain up

Re: Brownhill...
Has looked really good so far - although thought today was not his best game, he was quite wasteful with the ball today, as was Westwood. Having said, outnumbered in CM against the Champions so it's to be expected

Didn’t play as well as previous games today, but was playing against the English, European and World Champions and did not look out of place. Great signing.

Can’t wait to see him live in person
Re: Brownhill...
I think personally brownhill is a step up from Hendrick, happy to receive the ball under pressure, and rarely waste it, quite a good alrounder if I'm honest and will only get better with more games, great signing
