Tottenham v Everton tonight

Post by randomclaret2 » Mon Jul 06, 2020 2:02 pm

Not withstanding tonights result, which I think sees us drop a place whatever it is, isnt it marvellous that 5 games from the end of the season, we are nip and tuck with these two in the Premier League table ? Testament if any were needed to the remarkable job that Mr Dyche continues to do...

Without any doubt.

Last 11 games we've won 6, drawn 4 and lost 1.
For 13 and against 9 in goals.
That record would probably put us in the 2 or 3.

Who would have put any money on that 11 games ago!

I fancy Everton for a strong finish, think they might nick it tonight.

Everton will be the team to watch next season, once Ancelotti's had a pre-season with them, and a transfer window to strengthen, they'll be pushing for the top 4 i think. Whoever loses tonight can forget Europe i'd say, so the stakes are high for both.

From a personal point of view. Mate of mine in Baltimore is a Spurs fan. Odd as he is from Fleetwood and all his family support Fleetwood. He's always banging on about us when we lose. Goes quiet, as he is now when we're doing well. So want Everton to smash them. Think a draw would be better for us position wise though.

Pickford will be miffed with MK.
Just the right height for a 9 out of 10 dive then.

A draw tonight and another next Sunday against Arsenal would suit us just fine. In between, B'Mouth beating them would be a great bonus. Of course, if Leicster can beat Arsenal as well, even better.

That European place hasn't gone yet, though what sort of a team we'll have at Wet Spam is a bit of a worry. Whatever it is, I hope Sean doesn't put Dwight on the right again. It just didn't work. Hopefully, Gudders will get more than five mins at the end.

Some one above said Everton could finish in the top 4 with a couple signings and an Ancellotti pre season. They would need at least 5 or 6 quality signings to achieve that: as they are they aren't much better than us, if at all. On Spurs, I have a couple of pals over here in Spain who are Spurs fans (they go back several times a season to get some games in) and they are not happy with Mourinho at all, they say many Spurs fans feel the same and would like to get rid of him.

It was me that said they could bid for the top 4, but i'll agree they've been poor tonight, both teams have been bang average, but of the pair i can see Everton having the potential to improve far more than Spurs, and Ancelotti has done a better job than Jose thus far, and Everton will spend this summer, whereas Spurs face a major rebuilding task, and there's :?: marks over how much Levy will loosen the purse strings.

Most pundits suspected Mourinho wouldn't be a good fit for Spurs, their fans expect only attractive football and flair players, the total opposite of Jose's tactics. Mourinho might well be the first managerial casualty next season, if Spurs don't drastically improve.

Spurs were always gonna start dropping down the league.

Levy can try and grow the club all he wants. A bit of common sense was needed. Arsenal broke ground on the Emirates in February 2004. Finished 2006. That club was a far far different club from start to finish of that being done. The same for Tottenham. For a club that doesn’t invest that much in it’s squad anyway, to then build a new stadium in a time when it’s getting increasingly harder to finish in the top 4 was the stupidest decision he’s made.

Have to agree. Nobody saw Covid coming but a club like Spurs clearly didn't have a contingency plan. Be interesting how they cope in the coming seasons. Breathtaking stadium but they'll lose a fortune due to lockdown when they were heavily reliant on footfall.

It is of course, but it is more about how crap Everton and Spurs, not to mention Arsenal, have been.

Described on Radio 5Live as 'mid-table mediocrity'.
