Max Thompson
Could he be starting against West Ham.
He has just done a cryptic tweet.
Time (symbol), heart (Symbol) @burnleyofficial. With a picture of himself in a Burnley kit.
Has anyone heard if Jay Rod or Woods injury has flared up?

Re: Max Thompson
Doubt there's anything to it. Be Vydra on his own with McNeil centrally just behind if Wood and Jay Rod aren't fit.

Not sure about Max's music tastes he follows Justin Beiber on Twitter
Re: Max Thompson
Might just be loving his time in and around the first team squad.
To be fair if Mr Dyche genuinely thinks theres 1 or 2 that could make the grade like McNeil, I'd happily see them start the next few games, and I'd write off the results to see how they get on.
It's all about seeing the plan and the next bit of progression, I dont see that playing Peiters out wide and others out of position.
I must say only if he thinks theres a chance 1 could come good.
We stumbled upon McNeil, who's to say theres not another fearless kid about who cant grasp a chance and ride the wave

Yes totally get it could be nothing.
Just seems quite an ominous post. My original thought was either a new contract coming soon or the team has found out the starting x1 today for Wednesday night

Re: Max Thompson
New contract would make sense, if he's on the fringes of the 1st team, we should try and get him tied down, even if he doesn't break through with us, then there's every chance of lower league teams paying a decent wedge for a promising youngster, and that's funds that could be reinvested in the academy.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 9:56 pmYes totally get it could be nothing.

I'd be if Sean has told the players who's starting 2 day prior to a game, if there's any injury doubts we'll surely give them the max period to recover.

Re: Max Thompson
Might be wrong tiger but isn’t that general practise prior to an away game?
They let the squad know two days prior who will be travelling and what the starting line up will be.

Re: Max Thompson
The starting line up pretty much picks itself you'd have thought, it'll be whichever XI we can cobble together, if Sean and the backroom staff think the lad's worth a starting place then i'll trust their judgement, this is a rare chance to blood a few youngsters, and we don't have a huge amount to play for now, so why not give him a go, and maybe some others before the season's out.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:28 pmMight be wrong tiger but isn’t that general practise prior to an away game?

Re: Max Thompson
Could be something in it, his contract his till next June. Sure I read that BFC had offered temporary short-term contracts to Younger & another player which would be reviewed subject to Cat-1 status being achieved, could be a rash of new contracts in the light of todays news.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:07 pmNew contract would make sense, if he's on the fringes of the 1st team, we should try and get him tied down, even if he doesn't break through with us, then there's every chance of lower league teams paying a decent wedge for a promising youngster, and that's funds that could be reinvested in the academy.

Re: Max Thompson
I don't think there's much doubt about who will be travelling. It's everyone who can get onto the train without using the wheelchair ramp.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:28 pmMight be wrong tiger but isn’t that general practise prior to an away game?

Re: Max Thompson
I doubt they would have told him in any case, however with Gudmondsson and Brady injured, Hendrick and Lennon gone, Brownhill in the centre, and Barnes and (possibly) Pieters both injured as well, that's 7 different players who could have played on the right hand side of midfield, unavailable or possibly unavailable. Who's 8th choice?
(Having said that, I suspect Vydra or Rodriguez would be 8th choice with the other playing in the centre with Wood. But we'll see.)

With £10 million to bank between finishing 8th or 13th we don’t fanny about. If he’s worth his spot play him but not just to have a look at him.

Re: Max Thompson
Three coaches both ways I was told. Not sure it would be wise, or even permitted, for the players to travel to a game on public transport.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 11:55 amThey went to Palace by train and back in 3 coaches - suspect the same here
They are not doing the same for West Ham.
Re: Max Thompson
According to the Mail, he's in talks with the club over a new contract:
Burnley chairman Mike Garlick's determination to keep a firm control of the club's wage bill is demonstrated by the way he is playing hardball in contract negotiations with Academy players.
Promising striker Max Thompson is yet to sign a new deal with Burnley and his representatives are understood to be haggling over a few hundred pounds a week.
Burnley's parsimony has become a major source of tension between Garlick and manager Sean Dyche, who has been frustrated at the club's failure to agree contract extensions for several players for the duration of Project Restart and is unhappy at his limited transfer budget.
