That’s exactly what I thought. “He’d get away with that in the championship but bummed all over in the Prem”BenWickes wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 5:48 amAdmittedly only from YouTube footage but he looks like he has potential. Not the finished article by any means. I like the fact he's prepared to drive into central midfield if he sees space open up for him. I think he's more likely to be one for the future and will have to bide his time. Which makes (if true) the £15 million more surprising. That said. It's a short window and we have to show some intent as mentioned above.
Re: Matty Cash
Of course it would be, but come the end of next week, or when the window shuts, I'll be the one whose right again.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 9:28 pmThat’s a far better understanding of how we work than the responses you got from MACCA.

Re: Matty Cash
I can't see Gibson being part of the deal, we would still have to pay the £7.5 mil still owing to boro if he went to forest. If vydra was part of the deal that would make more sense

Re: Matty Cash
Surely lowton is part of the deal. Every other player in the squad (apart from Gibson) is indespensible
Re: Matty Cash
I am hoping that Ben Gibson can be used as a bargaining tool to sign Dael Fry of Middlesbrough
Lowton + cash for Cash
Lowton + cash for Cash
Re: Matty Cash
I doubt Dael Fry would come here given what he is likely to have been told by Gibson unless as a way of getting back to Boro Gibson has been more mature about it and reflected on his behaviour which seems most unlikely at his age

Yes, noticed a few of those occasions myself. Though these video montages try to capture all the little skills, turns, etc - hoping they’re very infrequent and only performed when the game allows, because they wouldn’t come off in the Prem and you get punished for the smallest of mistakes.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 8:19 amThat’s exactly what I thought. “He’d get away with that in the championship but bummed all over in the Prem”

Had got myself excited when I heard it was a journalist leak. Thought it was a local Nottingham journalist or something - not an “ex journalist” with 600 followers on Twitter. Seems less likely now. None of the mainstream media have picked up on it.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 10:11 pmhttps://twitter.com/RidgwellAndy/status ... 79329?s=19
With Lowton and Bardsley for next season, whilst an obvious place we need to resolve long-term, I wouldn’t have it down as a priority and £15m must blow the majority of the transfer budget?

Re: Matty Cash
With talk of Deeney, SD might think including Vydra in the deal is good. I wouldn't. I'd rather have Vydra than Cash, without the mention of including money in this as well. If anything, it would be Vydra for Cash + cash!

Re: Matty Cash
I wouldn’t sanction any deal involving Vydra. If the deal requires Vydra they can keep Cash. If we lost Vydra and got Deeney as his replaced him with Deeney that would be a double whammy!FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 10:52 amWith talk of Deeney, SD might think including Vydra in the deal is good. We have one striker that can get in behind. We need to keep him.

All of our strikers have proven that they can ‘get in behind’.
Re: Matty Cash
From what I have read Fry is a good central defender who has plenty of potential to become a very good one

Re: Matty Cash
I live in the NE, and Boro fans would love us to take Fry, they'd even pay for the fare.
He had a good season previous one, this last season he's been like the rest of the Boro team, less than average. He gets a lot of the blame from a section of fans. It's a big step from championship to Prem, and it's possible to impress in a losing team, but he hasn't.
Re: Matty Cash
Just because Fry has had a poor season doesn’t make him a poor player. He’s obviously got potential so now might be exactly the time to pick him up if we want him. If we’re waiting for him or another young player to have an outstanding season we’ll probably be priced out of any move.
Cash would be a good signing too by the way, but you can see how expensive a player from the championship is who’s just had a top season.

I read somewhere that Woodgate's tactics affected him but with the right coach he could fulfill his potential and good form of the previous season

Re: Matty Cash
Westwood, Barnes, Lowton, Mee, Trippier, Gudmonsson, Keane, Pope - all players released and signed for little or no money who have benefitted from a good coaching team.
Re: Matty Cash
I wouldn't call the signings of any of those for little or no money at the time we spent it. No idea what Westy cost, Barnes was £700k ish in the season we had to sell Austin and had just got in Heaton Jones and Arfield on free with Kights on a season long loan, so assume we were strapped for cash. Wasn't Lowton 1 million, Mee and Tripps were about 200 or 400k each and a low price because of sell on clauses at a time when our club under Eddie was having to slash costs, Gudmonsson and Pope were said to be £3million and Keane a few million-all of course have been great assets and many would bring in more than we paid for then if they left today
Re: Matty Cash
Spot on. There is far more to signing players than just looking at the top scorers charts or which players the fans think are good. I wonder how many of the fans of those players previous clubs would have raved about them before we bought them.IWOODLOVETT wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 1:05 pmWestwood, Barnes, Lowton, Mee, Trippier, Gudmonsson, Keane, Pope - all players released and signed for little or no money who have benefitted from a good coaching team.

Just realised Ward was missing of that as of course Ings Austin and Vokes

Fry is nowhere near good enough, he's not fast enough for the PL from the games I've seen him play in the championship and also the cup games against PL opposition

Just watched his highlights reel on YouTube, he looks slightly better than Lowton, would definitely not be spending £15m on him , there must be a better right back in Europe for a better price

Always a good idea to judge a players career off a you tube highlights package. Makes you wonder the point of having a scouting system these days.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:43 pmJust watched his highlights reel on YouTube, he looks slightly better than Lowton, would definitely not be spending £15m on him , there must be a better right back in Europe for a better price

The Southampton link, as tenuous so far as ours, usually leads to somebody on here posting “he’s signing/signed for Southampton”.

If he's as good as people are saying, then half the premier league will be in for him.

Cant really say I've seen him much, possibly 2 games on sky, and he seems to always be very advanced. However never stood out good or bad, so not sure on him myself.
Saying that I watched Bogle of Derby twice after our links with him, and he looked awful.
I'm sure whoever we go for will have been thoroughly checked out on every level.

They are also trying to get Walker Peters from Spurs which would seem more obvious after his loan to them in JanSteve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:10 amSouthampton link tweeted by Nixon who is probably more reliable than the bloke who linked him with us!

Re: Matty Cash
Always hard to say with young Championship players. Sure the likes of Robertson received the same uncertainty in the past. I do think at £15m it’s a gamble though, especially as I’d rather we sign a right winger/more midfield cover this summer whilst we have Lowton & Bardsley.MACCA wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:36 amCant really say I've seen him much, possibly 2 games on sky, and he seems to always be very advanced. Someone on Twitter said we were in for Clyne. I’d forgotten he was free! Think that would be a better call for a few years until Trippier returns from Spain!!
Re: Matty Cash
Personally I thought the whole point of resigning Bardsley was so we didn't have to worry about right back for another 12 months? With money being tight I can't see the logic in us carrying 3 right backs in the squad, all on decent money.

Suspect we will move one on-probably Lowton,if we got a right back. But makes more sense getting someone who can play RB and also CH. Not saying Dawson, and Gomez of Liverpool but someone like them

Re: Matty Cash
12 months in and around the squad is often Dyche's approach to a new signing. With that in mind, now would probably be the ideal time to sign someone.

Clyne hasn’t played in 14 months since he was on loan at Bournemouth. He’s since suffered a cruciate ligament injury.

Obv, although if that highlights package was his best bits from last season id be very underwhelmed, seems decent certainly but not a stand out player demanding a £15m fee but what do I know lolSteve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 5:11 pmAlways a good idea to judge a players career off a you tube highlights package. Re: Matty Cash
On reading up about Cash evidently he started out as a winger/right sided midfielder. Could we perhaps be thinking of buying him to use him like that with either Bardsley or Lowton remaining at full back for another season.

It's another bow to his string but we're surely looking at him as a right back. We've been in the market for a right back in at least the past two transfer windows.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 4:55 pmOn reading up about Cash evidently he started out as a winger/right sided midfielder.
