Points Record
Points Record
So with us sitting on 49 points and three of our last four games being very winnable are we about to break our own Premier League points record of 54? 58 points anyone? Enough for Europe?

Re: Points Record
3 wins could be enough for Europe, we certainly have a shout at beating 54 points, if that's not enough so be it, there's nothing more we can do.
Amazing that we're only 3 points from 6th, shows how strong our form has been since the defeat at Chelsea.

Re: Points Record
Would love it if we can beat our 56 points and finish in the Europea League... but if we don't hey ho ... who on here thought in early January we would be talking about that possibility ... NOT many
Re: Points Record
We’ve already got the 14 wins we got in 17/18 so you’d hope we can go on and beat that.

Re: Points Record
That dodgy penalty at Wolves is the only thing keeping us off equal 6th in terms of points. When you are above Spurs with 4 games to go you’ve had a great season that’s for sure (even if they have a game in hand).
2 home wins and a draw from tomorrow’s games will be perfect, fingers crossed.

Re: Points Record
Spurs - 4th last season, Champions League finalists. We shouldn’t really be anywhere near them in the league. Two really tough ones coming up next but what an incredible season this has been for us.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 11:01 pmThat dodgy penalty at Wolves is the only thing keeping us off equal 6th in terms of points. Let’s no forget that disallowed goal at Leicester. Still annoys me that one.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 11:01 pmThat dodgy penalty at Wolves is the only thing keeping us off equal 6th in terms of points. Also, shame Dwight missed that sitter against the Blades last match which would have made it 2-0 and more than likely won us the game. But that's football.

Re: Points Record
I want to see us finish with as many points and in as high a position as possible, but I can’t really get excited about Europe, given it’s disruptive impact and the fact that we won’t be able to go to any of the games anyway.

It's hitting the post in the European Cup Quarter Final at Bayern Munich, that gets me.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 12:22 amI’m still mad at Ian Moore’s header at deepdale.

Re: Points Record
I cant figure it all out, 3/4 months of lockdown, and sinister rumours of a club in meltdown, then we emerge as real madrid in disguise.
pope is undoubtably in fine form , clean sheets come easy. defence getting plaudits from every media source, and we are supposedly down to shoving junior school kids in next to shore up our beleaguered squad.
phenomenal results . great goals , and no crowds to jeer or applaud.the league status is amazing. but there is a cloud , an impression that the club won't adequately back the main man, and yet he conjures up this quality. lets hope it continues anyway.

Re: Points Record
First time since 1947 that we have beaten West Ham in 3 straight games. First time in PL we have done the double over them. First time this season that Liverpool failed to win at home coming up
Re: Points Record
Last time we did the double over West Ham was 1946/7 season when we were promoted although there is a typo in Clarets Chronicles showing us beating West Brom 5-0 away when in fact it was West Ham. I may well be wrong but can’t find us doing the double over them since ...,.......until today !
I am sure CT will correct me if I am wrong. If I am right then it is the first double over them in my lifetime

Re: Points Record
If anything, this season has been an even bigger success than when we grabbed a European spot all things considered, especially after the Covid break and our depleted squad.
As for Europe, I said at the time of the McNeil miss to make it 2-0 v Sheff Utd, that will probably be the turning point.
Regardless of Europe or not its been a fantastic end to a season, none of us could have even dreamed of this run a dozen games a go.
I just hope we manage to keep Dyche here for another 12 months so he can oversee the obvious needed transition, and it goes without saying he needs backing.

Re: Points Record
I couldn't agree more, the teams performances from January through March we impressive, but the last few weeks dealing with a crowded schedule with an already small squad reduced due to players departing and further depleted by the loss of regular/key first team players to injuries has perhaps been the clubs finest hour.

I’m still mad at fatty Dunn’s offside goal at Ewood
Re: Points Record
That pen at Wolves struck me at the time, that it could be THE decision, which had the most bearing on the outcome of the season. Odd but it stood out. 2 down for us and 1 up for Wolves, was huge at the time and now.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 11:01 pmThat dodgy penalty at Wolves is the only thing keeping us off equal 6th in terms of points. Games earlier in the season are completely irrelevant as to the points total we will end up with.IanMcL wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 8:49 amThat pen at Wolves struck me at the time, that it could be THE decision, which had the most bearing on the outcome of the season. If we had beaten Wolves our mindset would have been different in the games thereafter and in all likelihood we would have had a slightly different set of results.

Sky news this morning.....
First comment about game....Moyes furious about non red card blah blah blah
First comment about Burnley....Nick Pope where do you think he will start next season blah blah blah
Absolute media bull.....
I know why don’t we talk about how well we are keeping clean sheets as a team rather than how the team should be broken up.....

Re: Points Record
I'm not mad at anything, I'm happy with our points total as of today and would be happy even with the same points at the end of season.
I will be very happy with 4 points from the remaining games, which I am expecting.
I will be ecstatic if we break our points record
