Current Fair Play Table
Saw on another thread West Ham fans calling us dirty so checked out the fair play table. 62 yellows but no reds and only one point below West Ham, the animals.
We are only 6 yellows more than Chelsea, in third, but look at the bottom two. Shocking figures by any standard.

Interesting to see Arsenal, never shy of taking the moral high ground against other clubs, are rock bottom.

Re: Current Fair Play Table
Given the way we're normally set up to play, the defending we do, and usually allow the opposition ball possession, we're pretty fair.
What we don't do is roll around the pitching agony clutching the wrong leg like others do.
Or practice high -marks- for- artistic -impression dives in the oppositions box.

That rolling around seems to have been much less prevalent in the behind closed doors matches from what I've seenBuxtonclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 8:54 amGiven the way we're normally set up to play, the defending we do, and usually allow the opposition ball possession, we're pretty fair.

Re: Current Fair Play Table
What you can now hear are the screams of agony as grown men fling themselves to the floor after minor contact with another player. Presumably to emphasise to the ref how badly they've been fouled but it really does sound pathetic.

Re: Current Fair Play Table
I've thought Man City were dirty cheats for quite a while now. Particularly Fernandinho.
Re: Current Fair Play Table
Man City are very good with niggly fouls when they lose the ball. We have known this for some time but it was actually mentioned on TV not long ago.

It was a naughty one by Tarky last night. Not that he caught too much of the Bowen fella though.

This is clear evidence of the anti-Arsenal conspiracy that pervades football. These people know the truth...

Re: Current Fair Play Table
It's a myth that we're a dirty team, just like it's a myth we only play long balls, we mix our play up that's what makes us tough to beat.
Typical lazy stereotype that the London based media attach to us without checking the stats.

He was lucky to get away with that. Didn't catch much of Bowen? The intent was enoughBin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 11:31 amIt was a naughty one by Tarky last night. Not that he caught too much of the Bowen fella though.

Re: Current Fair Play Table
Had heard that Pep’s teams employ the cynical foul once they lose the ball tactic, but it still surprises me how often they do it.
Re: Current Fair Play Table
Looked to me that he was going for the ball but badly timed the lunge.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 11:55 amHe was lucky to get away with that. Didn't catch much of Bowen? The intent was enough

Re: Current Fair Play Table
A yellow was correct, in comparison with Nketiahs.
Eddie came in front on, studs showing, and seriously buckled the Leicester guys leg. Tarks came in from behind and although he caught him the leg bent at the knee. In the direction it is intended to. That is why Bowen was up so quickly. The other was a leg breaker on another day.

Re: Current Fair Play Table
Nketiah flew in high and at speed - a really reckless challenge IMO. Agree Tarko was lucky VAR chose not to look at it, but it was nowhere near as bad or dangerous as Nketiah’s challenge.
Re: Current Fair Play Table
We are more saintly then most when it comes to diving but by no means completely 'clean'. Taylor last night 'won' a highly dubious free kick for example.
Re: Current Fair Play Table
Apparently they didn't but until you saw the challenge in slow motion and from a different angle it didn't look too bad. Also, I don't recall seeing any of their players make a fuss or go to the ref, which would usually be the case when there's been a bad challenge. So maybe that had an effect on them not looking at it again.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 12:03 pmIt looked bad, especially from one angle. Why didn't VAR review it? Or, did they?
Re: Current Fair Play Table
Possibly but that was just 1 in the game. Antonio was on the floor about 3 times in the first few minutes looking for a foul!
