Back in April, I wrote the first article in preparation for the 1972/73 season

Today, the series of articles really gets underway, just a couple of days before the start of pre-season training as two Burnley greats depart the club

Re: ARTICLE: Farewell to two old friends
It was a sad day although inevitable - 12 years after winning the title before all the players had left the club. Angus was a bit special.
There will be some articles during this month and then game by game once the season starts. Back in training in a couple of days with at least a couple of signings to report.

Seem to recall a team photo prior to the '71/'72 season on the Burnley FC in Pictures thread recently which included John Angus. As you say, he was the very last of the Champions team from '59/'60.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 10:39 pmIt was a sad day although inevitable - 12 years after winning the title before all the players had left the club. Angus and Keith Newton are the two best full-backs to represent Burnley, in my humble opinion.

Re: ARTICLE: Farewell to two old friends
Not too long ago if I'd been asked to name my all time best Burnley team, I'm sure most of those players would have come from the 1960s and 70s, but we've had players in recent years who would definitely compete with them. I used to say the best two right backs I saw were Angus & Newton and the two best left backs were Elder & Newton but you would have to consider Kieran Trippier and Stephen Ward now.Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 11:27 pm

Still Angus at right back though for me.
