Fancy a job at BFC?
Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
• Host potential partners at Club matches to bring alive the Matchday opportunity.
• Match/Event responsibilities and organisation: Hosting potential partners as required.
Will be busy doing the same thing twice on match days, by the look of these two.
And only 20 days holiday a year!!

It's a misquote. Should read 'Subsidised Jim'. He's an apprentice from Bacup. He'd be your assistant.

There's more to improving the club than just spending millions on players, and this is another example!

Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
Basically, if you don't understand the " Corporate jargon ", it's not for you .....
It sounds like negotiating deals and partnerships world-wide in areas where Football and the EPL is popular, promoting our name and image in these areas with local commercial partners to our business advantage .... Far East, China, Australia, USA and Canada etc ... Man Utd did have a tie-in with the New York Yankees, signed around 2001( not sure if it's still current ), selling each other's merchandise etc ...
I do know we have an excellent contact in Mauritius !!

Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
You need to be very appreciative of that. That's what living in a highly developed, democratic and wealthy western country brings you.
Four weeks holiday is more than enough.

It's great, definitely appreciated when you're pulling minimum 10/12 hour days some weeks.

Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
Contracted 37.5, done weeks more depending on demand! I'm a QS, so depends on the payment cycle. I'm lucky, it's a well paid industry, but does follow boom and bust in an exaggerated way. Might be buggered in a few weeks with recession. Swings and roundabouts though I suppose.

Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
I've worked in the corporate world for a number of different companies across 20 plus years. Only 1 out of 6 jobs was 20 days, all the rest have been 25, and some allowing more with length of experience.
It's an interesting job, definitely one that that the big clubs need, but if we ever drop down to the championship for a number of years, would that role still be relevant? I think this role should be outsourced.

Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
A truck driver is expected to, legally, do at least that every day, 5 or 6 days per week - usually up to 15 hours per day. And that is for as little money as employers can get away with paying. A well paid European tramper can be away for anything up to 15 weeks at a time and earn around £40-50k per year (including night out payments)!
Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
Fair play to them. I worked in a previous role that meant a lot of time on the road, and it's hard with your thoughts running away sometimes. I love my job tbf.bfcmik wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 8:14 pmA truck driver is expected to, legally, do at least that every day, 5 or 6 days per week - usually up to 15 hours per day. Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
last 20 years working for an American company I got 11 hours every bi-weekly, this went in to a TOWP Bank, you used this for everything, illness, holidays, bank holidays, etc, worked very well for me but fortunately, very rare for me to have a day off through illness.

Looks like a brilliant opportunity for someone tbh. A pretty senior role. At a premier league club. With lots of travelling and involved in high profile deals. What’s not to like?
And could be a great step on the ladder in that world.

Like I said above, a great job whilst we are in the prem. It's a job that is linked to the fortunes of the team though. Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
it's a good opportunity for someone who has taken early retirement and a passion for football, hopefully for BFC to, part of the outcome from this is the clear long term planning that is being put together. This along with the candidate can provide a springboard for more funds to be available for new players beyond the obvious Sky Sports and fans buying all and sundry.Alanstevensonsgloves wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 8:40 pmLike I said above, a great job whilst we are in the prem. Part of the role is to help keep us in the PL and any candidate worth his salt will look at that way, in a positive way.

We start the ball rolling now, increase the revenue streams then as and when we do go down we aren't entirely reliant on parachute payments and we can out spend teams in the championship without breaking FFP.Alanstevensonsgloves wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 8:40 pmLike I said above, a great job whilst we are in the prem. Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
Slightly off topic but loosely connected. I had an advertisement board on the Turf in the 90's. I think his name was Tom Skelly in charge of commercial. Not sure he knew what he was doing. Arthur Bellamy was groundsman (lovely fella) and he said as much. Didn't Arthur live in the bungalow at Gawthorpe back then?
Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
Hope Rocky applies and gets it. You'd do a deal just to get him out of the building.
Re: Fancy a job at BFC?
I think four weeks is the absolute minimum that must be given and the average bank holidays in Europe is 12 compared to our 8.
I’d say that 25 is the general number given, plus the 8 statutory bank holidays. Length of service and seniority usually come with additional days as well.
When the working life is being extended into the seventies, a few extra paid holidays a year is perhaps the least that should be offered.

Most places are 25 as standard plus the bank holidays. And many now give you the opportunity to get an extra day per year for loyalty, buy days and even days for your birthday / wedding!DCWat wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 11:20 amI think four weeks is the absolute minimum that must be given and the average bank holidays in Europe is 12 compared to our 8.

At Daisy I had 30 as standard (long service), bought 5, got 1 for my birthday and the 8 bank holidays.
That said with flexible working more prominent now it seems more organisations offer slightly less.
Holidays are as important as pay to a degree. At BT it was expected unofficially that you continued to work while on holiday. Ridiculous. Staff burn out with that approach and are far less productive.
