Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS

Post by IanMcL » Sat Jul 11, 2020 12:54 pm

We go where no one has gone this season and got anything.

We may suffer and go out on our shields....or, our warriors may just, once again, achieve the impossible.

Allez les Clarets!

Madge has had her rub down and firing on all cylinders, just like our heroes.

Come on you Clarets

Send her on as an early sub to disrtact V V D and then maybe our strikers might have a chance.

Can somebody remind me to take my Burnley top off at 2.59pm. We seem to lose when I have it on and following this thread.

Pieters starting right midfield against Liverpool is scary.

It is harsh on Vydra, but Wood looked sharp when he came on against West Ham

So from what you would call our first choice starting XI. We have the following enforced changes
Long for Mee
Pieters for JGB
Brownhill for Cork
JRod for Barnes

Come on you Clarets

Which is what surprises me. Starting Vydra and bringing on Wood for 30 minutes in the second half, gradually gets him to the 90. And Vydra looks the better option vs Liverpool's defence. Long ball will see Dick Van Dyke just clearing it back.

Disappointed at Vyds being dropped. Can't see someone as slow as Wood getting anything from VVD. Hope I'm wrong. Maybe he'll get a knockdown for J Rod?

Hope JBG gets some decent time as well.

Vydra has played OK but missed far too many chances. Today could be a one chance game, we need to take it. COYC.

If we are backs against the wall, late on, Vydra running g channels, with his speed, is a good weapon.

I would do it the other way around though. We'll be sitting back early and mid game, and need Vydra running into the channels to turn the defense and get in behind a line that could be pushed up.

Late on, we'll most likely be behind, Liverpool will be sitting back and we'll need to get the ball into the box, so time for Wood to shine.

---

Despite all that, what does it say about Dyche being loyal to his players?... Turns out thats only some of his players. Pope kept his place, McNeil kept his place... Vydra... Na mate, Wood is back now, get back on the bench.

What has been telling about the last few seasons is that the big clubs tend to pick the best team available against us - and they are always up for it - that is the respect they give us, especially Pep and Klopp, they want they teams to be on their best form against us - which explains why they usually win and win well

Maybe that's Sean's plan? Do things backwards? Start at 5-0 Liverpool and work back to 0-0 and steal a point?
