Robertson onside. The central striker was offside but moved away from the ball

Wondering if the pass across goal would be counted as a shot or not...?

Pope makes it a hat trick just before halftime.

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Another world class save to end the half.
But he shouldn't have had to do it.
Woody was clearer fouled but, it wasn't given.
We're still in this.
Just.

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
What exactly did you expect today, and which other teams have given Liverpool problems at Anfield this season, i can't think of many.
Maybe they are dominating the game because they have a few quite decent players, hence why they are walking the the league, and they might well set a new points record, get a sense of reality, and i wouldn't say we've been poor, Brighton were 2 down after 8 minutes the other night, we're still right in this contest.

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Our pass completion rate is good. Pity it's mainly to Liverpool players

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
I know we're biased, but can anyone really say Pope isn't far and away the best english keeper ?
pickford just isn't remotely as good.

Great to see Pope getting the credit he deserves on social media and from the commentators. He had a great half.

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
That's the one I'm watching.
Not used hesgoal previously but yeah seems pretty good and connected easily (no sign up or automatic re-directs to dodgy websites like on some other streams)
Buffered once on about 32 mins but a quick refresh and it was fine.

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Pope out of this world.
Shame they scored from an avoidable corner.
Wood looks off the pace to me. Bring Vyds on for second half.

Right, we've tired them out now, second half time to dominate and wup them.

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
No point in playing two up front to chase aimless punts which means the ball just come straight back at us

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
The fact that we're playing Liverpool and will probably lose, might mean we'll get more than two minutes on MOD, and the pundits will have to say something about Pope. Today could be the catalyst for change in the England pecking order.burnleymik wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 3:51 pmGreat to see Pope getting the credit he deserves on social media and from the commentators. Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Did well not to cave in after the goal and actually got into their box a few times after that
Pope keeping us in the game but as long as it stays 1-0 they struggle when Westwood sticks the ball in right on top of Allison - plus they have made a couple of really poor unforced errors at the back
That being said I'd take 1-0 or 2-0 and move on

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Time to being McNeil inside for me. They are getting far too much space in there. Pieter's off, JBG on and let's give them something to think about in an attacking sense.

Wood and Rodriguez feeding on scraps but I feel they both play too similar games. We are basically counting on a magic cross or set play hitting one of them on the head.

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Our biggest problem against both Liverpool & City is that their midfielders are so good ours play deeper and the gap to Jay and Wood is too much. They can’t hold it up long enough for teammates to get to them.
We are not out if this yet. Dwight has had a couple of decent runs. We just need the cross onto a Clarets head.

But with Liverpool aren't they playing with two youngsters in Jones and Williams?

Re: Champions versus MIGHTY CLARETS
They are but bear in mind their youngsters are top quality, remember it was basically their youth team that knocked a full-strength Everton team out of the FA Cup this season, Jones looks quality, and Williams is not bad either. Klopp's no mug, if they weren't ready he wouldn't pick them.superdimitri wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 4:03 pmBut with Liverpool aren't they playing with two youngsters in Jones and Williams?

I wonder if Karen Carney saw that ball hit Jay on the head? Shame he’s no good in the air.
