guard of honour

Post by gandhisflipflop » Sat Jul 11, 2020 4:01 pm

I hope someone can enlighten me on this. We gave Liverpool the 'guard of honour' before today's game. I was under the impression that the 'guard of honour' was done by whoever the champions were playing next once confirmed? It appears Liverpool have had one every game since. When did this come in?

Is it not because they've won it so early? A lot of seasons go down to the last couple of games and therefore not many games left to do it

Yep.
We only allowed them one way through that, as well. 8-)

I thought Bardsley tripping Salah during the Guard of Honour was uncalled for!

It's standard to offer it to a team that has already won the league. As said, doesn't usually run for so many games but really pleased we did it although not surprised given how respectful our manager is.

Absolutely deserve it.. best team in the world! I do think that if you put Virgil in city’s side they’d be the best in the world, he’s that good

If Virgil hadn't been in Liverpools's side we'd have won.

If Sean Dyche hadn't been our manager we'd wouldn't even be playing 'em.

It's notable, though, how often sides given a guard of honour **** up. On that basis we were right to give them one.
